What size baby clothes did you take to hospital?

I'm packing baby's hospital bag and stumped on sizes.
I think 0 - 3 months will be too big as she was measuring 43rd percentile at my 28 week growth scan.
I have some sleep suits in 'first size' from next which do up to 7.8lb. Should I pack a couple of these and a couple of newborn (up to 10lb)?

Will of course also pack baby grows!

Those sizes sound good. I took 0-3 for my first & he was swamped.

I took 2 newborn vests and bodysuits and 1 0-3 month vest and bodysuit. The newborn vests usually go up to about 9.5lb I think. I decided my dd wouldn’t be bigger than that so took more of the newborn clothes incase of any accidents!

I took newbirn size. Mine were both around 7lbs and it fitted them though slightly big.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 26/04/2019 10:03

I think I took newborn but DD was pretty small (6lbs) so we had to get some tiny baby stuff as she was swamped!

0-3 months was huge!

TheSunIsShining19 · 26/04/2019 10:05

I took a couple of different sizes, even DS2 born at 9lbs Shock fit into newborn perfectly..sizing from next is on the bigger size I think..

Just take a few different sizes, and keep the labels on! You might end up with lots of clothing they don't wear! So you can take them back Smile

I took 0-3 for my youngest who was born 2wks early at 10lb 7 and 65cm! He prettu much was straight into 3-6

For Dc1, I took newborn and 0-3 months. My MiL had to go out and buy some tiny baby because the above swamped him.

For Dc2, I took 1 tiny baby just in case, newborn and 0-3 months. At just under 8 pounds, the newborn outfit from M&S just fit (but I think they size small).

We have been given a lot of lovely bundles of clothes from friends that never ended up worn so I've been lucky that I haven't had to think about returning things!

Thanks for all your advice. To be on the safe side I have gone for 2 first size and then 3 newborn. Can always send DH home if anything else is needed. Half a pack of nappies (DH can always get more), 2 blankets, and then all the other little bits. I haven't even considered my own hospital bag yet. I'm packing like we will move in!

I took tiny baby I think or newborn 🤔 mine were both late by 8 days and 12 days and weighed 6lb 8 and 7lb 1

Narya · 26/04/2019 10:47

I think newborn, but a couple of different brands that had very different weight ranges. Boots newborn is much bigger than a lot of the others

Thatsnotmyotter · 26/04/2019 10:48

We took some newborn and some 0-3. He came home in 0-3 a a lot of the newborn stuff was tiny. We had some ‘under 1 month’/up to 10lbs bits which I fitted him fine though. I didn’t realise a lot of the newborn clothes seem to be under 8lbs or similar and he was nearly 9lbs.

kgeal3 · 26/04/2019 14:52

I always took first size with mine and they were all too big. Mine have been good sized babies, between 6.10 and 7.5 and have all been in tiny baby clothes for the first month

99calmbeforethestorm · 26/04/2019 17:28

My midwife said to take up to one month as she thought baby was going to be on the larger size. She was 9lb 9oz and she out grew those vests by 2 weeks.

snoopy18 · 26/04/2019 17:30

I took up to one month ones - they were still big on him he was 37&6 6.7lb

rollonoctober · 26/04/2019 17:37

I took newborn and up to a month stuff. My first 2 DC were well over 9lb and both were still wearing those sizes for the first month. 0-3 month stuff absolutely swamped them.

VaselineHero · 26/04/2019 18:58

I've got some newborn and 0-1 month from M&S to take with me

MrsWidgerysLodger · 26/04/2019 19:00

We took newborn and 0-3. DD was 9lb 13 and whilst she did just about fit newborn, 0-3 was much more comfy looking. I was gutted as th outfit I wanted to bring her home in didn't fit :(
