Second baby. With first waters just broke Hollywood style a few days on from where I am now gestation wise.

Just turned 37 weeks. Baby has been very low really since they started measuring it at 28 weeks so I’ve been waddling and getting noticeable Braxton Hicks when doing up hill for a while. In last two days or so seems to have ramped up a lot though. Still pretty much brought on when I walk but then continues for hours at home. Period type pains probably 18 hours a day. Can talk through any pain but it’s a bit more intense than it was. Tonight and last night was hoping I’d wake up and it would have started but every time I woke up last night I was aware still of dull pain but it wasn’t that bad and tonight after really thinking it would kick off any moment as I was doubled over and doing my breathing until I went to bed, I now feel fine.

After being off for a few weeks it’s supposed to be my last day in the office tomorrow. Aware that this could go on for a while yet but at the same time is getting a train in a stupid idea at this point??

How long is your train journey and what would you do if you started labour at work? My first two deliveries were only a few hours long (and a few days early) but my third was longer, two weeks overdue, and the only time I really had Braxton Hicks and a false alarm. Could you call midwife/hospital and see what they suggest? Good luck.

Not too far to be fair, twenty mins on the train and then I can get a taxi the last mile or so to the hospital. I obviously kind of want to go to say goodbye to people.

I’m thinking I might raid my hospital bag and take pads and thick pants with me in case of waters. Just feel a bit thick at this point, whether this is me over reacting to what the last few weeks can be like or whether this is the build up to it. In the evening I was convinced I’d be waking up in full on labour given how I was feeling but other than a baby poking my ribs and bladder I feel so normal now, just can’t sleep.
Had midwife yesterday and she said all good signs but don’t really want to phone anyone as never seen the same one twice so no one really knows me and I honestly don’t even know who the named one in my book is. Could call birth centre. I was there yesterday booking in and at that point almost asked them to assess me (!) but thought better of.
Everyone keeps saying with your second you’ll “know” but I really don’t.
