41 weeks - baby a lot more active than normal?

Hello,

I'm 41 weeks and the past few days my baby has been unbelievably active and moving around so much, a lot more than normal.

Does anyone know what this is a sign of? I don't have a midwife appointment for another 2/3 days so I'm just wondering what it could be.

I know less movements are something to worry about and maybe this isn't, but I'm just wondering what it could be?

Purely a guess but could be getting ready for action or it could be baby is just bigger and stronger so you feel them moving more.

I have absolutely no reason to think extra movement is a bad sign but aren't you supposed to check in for any change in movement so that could mean excessive movement too? I would pop in if I were you?

In my experience any change of movements should be checked out wether it's less or more, just give the hospital a ring and see what they say.

Change in movement including increased movements should be checked out. Call your maternity assessment unit.

Go in and get checked. It's likely nothing but let the experts decide.

Ring maternity triage and they will tell you what you need to do.

Agree with everyone else - my midwife has told me that movements are the only way that my baby has of communicating when something is wrong (and that could just as easily be increased movements). Not that I think there's anything wrong with your baby of course but I've been told to take it very seriously just in case.

Thanks everyone :)

I've rang the hospital and there saying with everything I've described they don't think it's anything to be concerned about and my body sounds like it's getting ready for the big day. They said they're more concerned with reduced movements, but it was nice to get the reassurance. Thanks :)

Great news, glad you checked and fingers crossed for labour soon Flowers
