Lower back and hip pain when walking at 23 weeks

Hi all,

Is anyone else experiencing severe lower back and hip pain after having walked for about 10-15 minutes? I kind of expect it later down the line but at 23 weeks it seems a little early? It was so bad at the weekend I was having to stop myself crying in the middle of the shopping centre! 😬

I had pelvic girdle pain from 16 weeks in my first pregnancy. Go to the GP. They can refer you to physio for support

I’m 25 weeks and have been getting lower back pain for the past 10 days or so. It’s like a dull ache at first, then I feel really stiff and struggle to sit/stand in the same position for very long. I also haven’t wanted to bother the GP about it cos it seems too early/not severe enough, but I think I’ll mention it to my midwife at my appointment next week. You should definitely see your GP if it’s reducing you to tears!

@greystar30 ow man ! Sounds like PGP or SPD i had this from 17 weeks , go to your GP and see if they can refer you to Physiotherapy!

I found that warm baths help , Ice packs , heat packs and hot water bottle have helped me ,

I couldn't walk more than a few hundred metres a day by then... crutches by 28 weeks. Essentially housebound by 32.

Currently 6 weeks postpartum. Walked out of hospital without crutches (albeit very gingerly). Still have some discomfort. Midwife recommended seeing an osteopath privately.

Loads of useful info on the pelvic partnership website.

Thanks so much ladies, I didn't want to bother the GP if it was normal but will definitely try and make an appointment tomorrow now!
