Pregnant right after period

I did a pregnancy test today as I’ve been having cramps, peeing more than usual, fullness feeling down below & swollen boobs and I got a faint positive on a cheap strip test Shock

I’m confused as DP and I only had sex at the end of my period and no other time. Has anyone else conceived at the end of their period?

Maybe the test is wrong I’m going to buy a digital tester later.

not sure, but be wary that the digital one might not be as sensitive so might give you a false negative.

Aberforthsgoat · 23/04/2019 16:20

I know someone who got pregnant the week after their period... get a first response if you’re going to do another test.!

Aberforthsgoat · 23/04/2019 16:20

That should be during the week after their period

CountFosco · 23/04/2019 16:24

DD2 is the result of having sex once in a month on the last day of my period. Perfectly normal, I know other people who have had also got pregnant in the same way.

afternoontwee · 23/04/2019 16:42

Yep I found out at my 12 week scan that the baby was measuring a week ahead - looks like I ovulated right after my period ended. Bear in mind too that sperm can live a short while in the body too!

TerriB1984 · 23/04/2019 16:45

Yes sperm can live for up to 5 days in a woman’s body so depending on the length of your cycle and when you ovulate it’s totally feasible.

lemonjam · 23/04/2019 17:00

2 of my 3 were conceived right after my period!

ncadx · 23/04/2019 19:02

Thank you all for the replies.

I know that there is a chance of conceiving anytime in the cycle but really wasn’t expecting this and never heard of anyone conceiving this way. I think I’m still in shock and not sure what to think right now and I’m stuck at work until 9pm Angry so will have to find a supermarket that sells clear blue.

Dd is now 4, conceived on the last day of my period.
Sperm can live inside for up to a week apparently...
And some say that having a girl is more likely as the 'female ' sperm live longer, stronger swimmers or some such stuff 🤷‍♀️

Mamabear12 · 23/04/2019 19:58

My friend got pregnant this way and she ended up having a boy! We thought she would have girl, as she already had two girls....and as pp said that female sperm live longer...so big surprise when it was a boy!

PyjamasForever · 23/04/2019 20:03

Both my pregnancies have happened within 2 days of my period finishing.

Andrea91 · 23/04/2019 20:03

I conceived one day after

Wallywobbles · 23/04/2019 20:21

Both my pregnancies were conceived at the end of my period. Last couple of days.

ncadx · 24/04/2019 15:31

So I took another test last night and it was negative Confused now I’m really confused. I think I’m around 10 dpo so maybe this is why or maybe it was just a false positive. Going to test again in a few days in the morning.

This has literally just happened to me. I didn't believe I could be pregnant but my boobs were killing me so took a yes

Bloom1 · 20/12/2019 23:29

Hey what gender are you most likely to conceive this way

Katie786 · 11/12/2021 02:33

Hey @ncadx did you end up being pregnant? I'm in the ssme situation

Joychosen · 08/02/2023 07:07

just reading through, wedded for a year and trying to find like minded and real posts.

Joychosen · 08/02/2023 07:11

Hey everyone, hope you are doing ok.
Happy to join mums net today and thank you all who have shared your experiences.

Just a silly qn, has anyone ever wanted a baby so bad but the husband always said he isn't ready yet, just worrying about not being a good dad and finances may be low but you actually think you will get through it?.

How do you habdle that coz as far as i know i can't force it since power is in his hands.**

Twoinapod · 08/02/2023 09:46

@Joychosen this is an old thread, you’d be better starting your own.

if you’re husband isn’t ready then there is not much to do then wait. Perhaps sit down together and discuss the pros and cons of your current situation and maybe come up with a timeframe to work towards. In the mean time get yourself a hobby to take your mind off it.

”How do you habdle that coz as far as i know i can't force it since power is in his hands.”

the “as far as I know I can’t force it” part I find somewhat concerning, no you 100% definitely cannot force it.
