Upper Abdominal Pain

I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced/is experiencing upper abdominal pain during their pregnancy.
I am currently 27 weeks pregnant and for the last few weeks now I have had pain in my upper abdomen, just under my breasts. The pain is on both sides and central. I am finding it hard to place whether the skin is sore of it it's the muscles (although I think it's a combination of both as the area is sensitive to touch). It is worse when I'm sitting or laying down but is fairly constant which is starting to drive me mad as it's disturbing my sleep.
When I had my last midwife appointment at 24 weeks she said she thought it was the muscles stretching as I'm of a slimmer build and my body is having to accommodate an ever growing baby.
Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, do you have any tips for managing the pain? Paracetamol doesn't seem to do a lot and I've tried hot water bottles which sometimes seem to help and sometimes it almost makes it feel worse. I will mention again at my appointment next week but any support in the meantime would be most welcome.

Thanks, Eliza

I had this. I put it down to my skin stretching so much. It was on the top of my bump really sore & tight. Are you wearing maternity bras ? If not switch this helped me a lot x

I get it on my lower bump. For me it's often when the skin is stretching and know that I'm going to have stretch marks there by the morning when I wake up. Currently got 2. Expecting more. sigh

@LouB1990xX I did think this was probably the case. That's pretty much what it feels like, yes! I've got non-wired bras but I think I need to invest in some more that are less tight. At the moment I'm avoiding wearing bras as I feel it adds to the pain where the strap sits exactly where I'm feeling sore! Did anything help with your pain? I was thinking of trying some Aloe Vera gel.

@DeadDoorpost aren't us girls lucky?! Make sure you slather on the Bio-Oil - I have found its helped with stretch marks for me (so far). Wish it would help with the cellulite on my legs and bum though haha.

I tried Dr PawPaw it’s in a yellow tube it’s really moisturising it did help me a little. I also didn’t wear a bra unless I was out & needed to. The maternity bras helped loads mine passed after a week I think but it is really uncomfortable I feel
For you x

@ElizaBeatrice I haven't bothered. I've found mine disappear at the same rate with or without Bio oil and as someone with pale skin anyway, I'm really lucky they fade to a silver colour. They barely show on my legs etc. But DH also has some so it makes me feel better as he's way slimmer than me.
