Maternity clothes - summer and work

Hasn’t this bank holiday been glorious? It has however caused major clothing issues as I have nothing to wear. I’m only 13 weeks but very bloated and put on over a stone during 2 rounds of fertility treatment so last summers clothes won’t work. Currently wearing my Mums shorts (3 sizes bigger than my pre treatment/pregnancy size).

I need summer things (T-shirts, shorts etc) plus smart dresses for work. I’ve checked out mamalicious, Seraphine and ASOS. The dresses seem more casual or suitable for a wedding. Also not sure I need maternity clothes yet but maybe looser dresses (seen a good option in cos).

Any suggestions as don’t want to spend a fortune on things that will fit for one month.

Asda have a reasonable maternity range at good prices look online it was the best priced and looked good! Still wearing some of the tops to hide my baby weight now.

Think simplybe may do a few options too

Whatsnewpussyhat · 21/04/2019 18:11

Try dorothy perkins maternity range online. 25% off dresses at the mo.

Asda do maternity too quite cheap.

I've had some good work maternity dresses from Boohoo. Not somewhere I'd usually shop but they have quite an extensive maternity range.

Asda and New Look have been others.

My advice is, buy maternity dresses now, five for work, that can be worn with or without tights and cardigan depending on the weather. I made the mistake of firstly just buying looser dresses then had to fork out for a bunch of maternity dresses when the bump got too big too.

If I didn't only have 7 weeks left, I'd be buying a pair of maternity shorts and vests too if this weather is a sign of things to come.

@TokenGinger yes that’s what concerns me buying two new wardrobes. There’s some good sales on this weekend so might buy some stuff

I’m 14 weeks now. I’ve bought a few bits from New Look and some dresses and jeans from Dorothy Perkins so far. I’ll need lots of summer clothes as obviously we’ll be massive in August Grin
I need to look at Asda properly too, I saw a few nice things on there. I generally wear dresses and leggings for work (smart-casual office), so will just get more of the same. New Look leggings are good. I’m size 16 so not exactly small to start with, so no doubt I’ll feel like a complete whale in three or four months time. Confused

WhiteVixen · 21/04/2019 20:24

Oh and H&M too, they have a decent range. Matalan might also be worth a look.

WildFlower2019 · 21/04/2019 20:31

What about some cheap bits from eBay or local selling sites?

Recently, I bought a dress from Yumi that I loved. I then bought the same dress in three different colours/patterns on eBay! Score!

SurreyisSunny · 21/04/2019 20:52

@WhiteVixen congratulations! Yes we will both have summer pregnancies. I usually love the heat but have a feeling this year will be feeling hot eating my body weight in ice cream

I was size 12 a year ago. I’m now a size 16. As my mum not so politely said I can’t really wear bodycon dresses!

I'm 29 weeks but I've got by quite well so far with just upsizing on dresses, or buying sort of sac/smock dresses without waistbands. The joy of these is there's a huge range out there and you can where them after pregnancy too!

SurreyisSunny · 23/04/2019 21:11

So this weekend done online orders (credit card says ouch) from Seraphine, mamalicious and jojo. Also bought a couple tops in Mothercare (very affordable and look quite good).

No maternity section in my local Asda sadly. I’ll need some cheaper bits for out of work so will no doubt do more online orders soon.

I’ll have to see how I get on. A LOT will be returned!

Monsoon do really good empire line dresses for work.

hellotoyellow · 23/04/2019 22:05

I wore cos until 22 weeks. I have to say seraphine is now the best stuff I own, with a bit of Isabella Oliver. All bought from eBay except one dress from seraphine that was an emergency purchase, so not very expensive either!

MakeAWhish · 23/04/2019 22:06

H&M online. Reasonable prices and some really nice summer dresses. I had 2 delivered today.

Bere111 · 24/04/2019 00:30

I think new look is the best all rounder for maternity stuff!
I also saw in m&s today they had some cool T-shirt dresses for £12.50.

Preggosaurus9 · 24/04/2019 00:36

Ebay ebay ebay. I dislike a lot of current fashion, on ebay I can search by colour and find more classic looking dresses. I don't want body con either, but a lot of current fashion seems to be!
