36+6 and I can't stop bloody eating! Honestly I could eat my body weight in one sitting.

I've been hungry in the second trimester but not like this, I thought appetite was supposed to decrease somewhat in the last tri? Can't stop thinking about food Confused

Anyone else had this??

We were told you need an extra glass of milk and slice of bread per day to meet baby’s needs. Any thing more was gluttony ( how old am I !).
Are you sugar levels okay? Are you drinking enough water? Are you bored?

Weenurse · 19/04/2019 00:23

I was just addicted to sugar first pregnancy and fruit second.
DD1 is a junk food addict and DD2 actively seeks out fruit and good food.
DD1 pregnancy, I could eat a packet of chocolate bullets a day.

@Weenurse sugar levels are fine and I don't drink anything else except water all day long. I'm actually just hungry, not bored at all 🙈

@Weenurse it's savoury things that I want to eat more than anything

Are you eating a healthy amount, or over eating?

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 19/04/2019 00:50

I had this with my most recent pregnancy. At my midwives’ advice, I decided to let myself eat as much as I was craving, but to try to keep it healthy. Lots of apples, dates, nuts, whole grains, and extra protein at meals. I didn’t end up putting on an unreasonable amount of weight, even though I was eating constantly.

mcjx · 19/04/2019 00:51

@UpToMyElbowsInDiapers I weighed myself last week and I've gained 13lbs so far this pregnancy.

I would dread to step on the scales at this moment in time! Goodness knows how much I've put on since then.

@Weenurse definitely overeating. I'm going to rein it in a bit or I'm going to be a bloody whale! I'm being induced in 8 days

Try to have a glass of water when hungry and reaching for stuff between meals and snacks.
The distract yourself with cleaning out the cutlery drawer or other small chore.
It does help.
Good luck 💐

Teddybear45 · 19/04/2019 04:04

Try to indulge savory cravings with healthy things and try to weigh out exact portions so you arent tempted to overeat. Then offset with your meals so they are smaller.

PBobs · 19/04/2019 08:37

Did you have an unhealthy BMI to start with? 13lbs isn't much weight to have gained by the 36 week mark if you started out healthy. I'm at week 32 and have gained 22lbs. I'm bang on in the middle of the ideal range for weight gain this pregnancy.

chestnut9 · 19/04/2019 09:10

Yes, if you had only gained 13lb by last week (week 35?) that is very much on the low end and your body is probably just trying to pile on a bit more! The hunger sounds normal and healthy, just indulge it within reason as in 8 days time it will be over!

mcjx · 19/04/2019 13:04

@PBobs I didn't start out healthy no. I wasn't obese but definitely wasn't on the lighter side for my height Blush

First and some of second trimester I just had terrible sickness so I lived off crackers and dry bland food pretty much so didn't indulge then.

Carried on eating "normally" for the rest of the second tri and some of third but now I'm starving 24/7 lol

Week 37 over here and put on two and half stone but midwife did say that's normal due to my starting weight being borderline underweight. Everyone's different so I wouldn't worry too much

Mrsmummy90 · 19/04/2019 14:25

I'm 26 weeks and exactly the same at the moment. Feel so ashamed and trying to curb it but all I think about is food! Blush

PBobs · 19/04/2019 15:06

@mix still doesn't sound like much to have gained. Have you tried putting your info into a site like this to see how you're doing? www.momjunction.com/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator/#gref

mcjx · 19/04/2019 15:12

@PBobs just followed the link you've sent, my red dot is bang on in the middle of the green lines.

baby is growing above the 90th centile and has been doing all the way through, I haven't gained weight anywhere else just my belly is massive!

@Mrsmummy90 it's hard isn't it! Grin

PBobs · 19/04/2019 15:40

@mcjx well you're doing fine then. Seems you've gained a reasonable and appropriate amount of weight. Only a week to go! I don't think eating a bit too much in the last week is the end of the world. Good luck.

mcjx · 19/04/2019 15:43

Thanks @PBobs! Thanks
