41 weeks - dragging period pain after sweep: early labour?

Hello Mumsnetters Smile

I had a sweep on Tuesday afternoon, the midwife said I was already 2 cm dilated and the cervix was "very favourable". Since then, I have had on and off cramping - sometimes painful enough to take paracetamol. I get quite bad period pains and this is like that - gnomes drilling into my uterus. The bump has been aching at the sides as well. Sometimes the pain goes away, but it comes back at some point - there is no pattern however and when it's there, it's constant.

I phoned the midwife and she suggested I go tomorrow for a check and another sweep if necessary. Would you get another sweep? Could I be already in labour?

Yes, I would say you are

It sounds like the latent phase of labour which can go on for a good few days. If you're happy to have another sweep then I'd do that and just await events. Once the contractions become a lot stronger and more regular, you're likely to be in established labour. Good luckSmileThanks

1-3 CM in my trust is latent labour

I was going to have an induction but I went for it and I was 2cm 8am and the next day I gave birth 1am

It’s close !!
