Currently 36+4 and have really started to itch on my belly, face, neck and legs Confused

Is this a cause for concern? My hands and feet are not feeling itchy

You need a liver function test. I don’t know the details or criteria and hope someone else more knowledgeable comes along soon!

I had this - drove me mad! Especially over my bump. Moisturising did little to help apart from when I used aloe Vera. Best reduction came from switching to using Sanex in the shower rather than my usual shower gel/soap.

@Etimo yeah I've heard it can be to do with the liver. I'm being induced in 10 days but I'll text the MW and ask if I should be seen!"

@WonkyDonk87 the bump is particularly itchy, it's very annoying 😑

I'm using moisturiser but like you say it doesn't help that much, will try aloe

Is the skin dry? If so try gently exfoliating first before the moisturiser.

mcjx · 17/04/2019 23:22

@Teddybear45 nope! My belly is nice and smooth atm

It could be a condition called obstetric cholestasis which can only be diagnosed through a blood test. It's treatable fro what I understand but you absolutely must call your midwife tomorrow and tell her.

SheilaHammond · 17/04/2019 23:49

I had OC twice. It can be serious so phone your midwife tomorrow and be fairly assertive about needing a blood test. It needs particular management in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

sacrecoeur0712 · 18/04/2019 09:17

It could also be a condition called PUPPP, which isn't harmful to baby but as others have said you need to rule out OC so best get onto your midwife or GP.
