Ectopic pregnancy

Hello I'm new here and posted for the first time the other day to say I had a positive pregnancy test. I also posted to ask if brown spotting and cramps were normal. This was on Wednesday Thursday last week. By Saturday I was feeling very unwell so went to hospital where they checked me and told me I might have early signs of appendicitis but at 5 weeks pregnant was too early for ectopic pregnancy. So I came home. By Monday afternoon the pain was unbearable and I rushed back in and this time I had been fainting and was unable to stand up along with brown discharge sweats, collapsing and just very very poorly. They suspected ectopic pregnancy or appendicitis still, scan revealed a baby in correct place with yolk sac etc so they then said it was appendix. Rushed me to surgery to remove appendix and once they opened me up they found I had twins but one had gotten stuck in the wrong place and I was in fact having an ectopic pregnancy. I'm now in recovery at hospital still and feel massively in shock and very emotional. They have said they will scan again in two days to see if the twin in the correct place is still alive. Can anyone offering any stories where they had the same thing and their surviving baby was ok? I am so worried about it all. What are the odds of the remaining baby surviving. Surgeons think they didn't go near the baby who was in the right position so they hope for the best.
Thanks for reading

I have no experience of this, sorry. But I didn't want to read and run. What an awful experience for you. Send best wishes that everything is fine with the other twin. Thanks

Did they mention heterotopic? If so yes it is possible to carry to term. Did you conceive via IVF? If so you might want to go back to the clinic so they can give you extra progesterone etc until 12 weeks.

It's my first pregnancy and I conceived naturally after trying for only 4 months

It sounds like what’s called a heterotopic pregnancy. I know someone who had this after IVF. The ectopic pregnancy was removed surgically but the intrauterine pregnancy was fine and she went on to give birth without any problems. She was told that if she was going to miscarry it would most likely happen within a few days of the surgery. Fingers crossed for you OP Flowers

This study is quite small but showed an 85% chance of the intrauterine baby surviving: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/30453424/
