My daughter has had a scan today and they say she has too much fluid 93mm at 36+2
They are doing a glucose test in the morning but she is concerned the baby is ok.
His tummy measured at 41+6
But his head and leg measured at 34+6
This sounds like it is quite bad, does anyone know what all this means?

I know nothing about the measurements I’m afraid but I had polyhydramnios. They explained it likely meant nothing but could indicate that her swallowing was directed to lungs rather than stomach. None of them seemed concerned though really as I believe the chances were very small. Once born we had to not feed my daughter for an hour to allow any mucus to clear, then a lovely nurse from the special care baby unit passed a tube down babies throat to check it reached stomach not lungs. It did and so then we were allowed to feed her. My daughter is in absolute perfect health and the polyhydramnios was just one of those things. Hope things go smoothly for your daughter. And congratulations on the grandchild!

It's always worrying when something like this occurs. Don't Google...Google is not your friend. Polyhydramnios is mostly found to be mild and doesn't do any harm. It sometimes causes preterm labour.

Sometimes fluid builds up very slowly in the 2nd half of the pregnancy...when it's severe, it can cause shortness of breath. But then again so can iron deficiency.

There are SO many variables that it's just not worth trying to work it out OP....hard as it is, try to just concentrate on the day as it comes. And not to focus on the ph. It's there and it's been spotted, so that's a good thing because now they can keep an eye out.x
