In not a very outspoken person but I can really feel myself bubbling over (hormones and tiredness I'm sure) everytime someone shares their labour stories with me.. I know that soon I might end up being rude and snapping at someone which I dont really want to but seriously...you dont need to prepare me I know it will be painful and that is what my midwife is for... any polite or humorous ways I can tell them to shut it????Grin

This drove me mad. I was very open to positive stories but people seem obsessed to almost boast about how hideous their labour was.
I'd just say 'I'd love to hear your birth story once I've been through it myself, for now my way to prepare is to focus on my Hypnobirthing skills and avoid all labour stories'. Most people rolled their eyes but ultimately stopped going on.

For what it's worth, I'd describe labour as only a positive experience personally and I definitely put a lot of that down to ignoring everyone who went on about how hideous it was and focusing on what I knew I needed to cope with it.
