Am I worrying over nothing?

I almost certainly am fretting for no reason, I just need someone else to tell me that!
I’m 30+3 and this morning have had some (sorry, TMI alert) moderately bad diarrhoea and it’s made me worry a bit because I know can be a sign that labour might be approaching? I don’t have nausea/sickness, any lower abdominal or back pain, any signs of a UTI, a fever, and I’m able to eat and drink fine and baby is moving normally. The fact I have no other signs of labour is reassuring, but equally the fact I have no other symptoms at all makes me think it isn’t a bug or food poisoning. Can pregnancy just cause this randomly, and at what point should I be worried about it?

@MeredithGrey1 I had the same at about 34 weeks and after a bit of a worried Google I called my GP who told me to ring the Pregnancy assessment unit. They weren’t concerned (like you, I didn’t feel like I had a bug / eaten anything dodgy) She said the main thing was so keep hydrated and ring back if I started to feel worse or couldn’t keep fluids in.

Maybe ring your midwife and mention it for some reassurance/advice? I do think it’s fairly common but always helps to speak to someone in the know. And drink plenty of water 😊

Thanks! I’m guessing yours wasn’t a sign of imminent labour or anything then?

It seems like it was just a weird thing this morning as I think I’m fine now. I thought I’d be getting less stressed the further through the pregnancy I got, but I think the opposite has happened and I’m now paranoid about anything that could be a sign of premature labour!

Nope 😁 and without TMI I’ve had it a few times since and I’m 37+5 now and baby is happily still in there! I know what you mean, I think it’s when your due date starts to creep up and it all becomes a bit real that brain plays lots of situations. I think it’s normal but still not nice fretting!

I’ve found hypnobirthing positive affirmations are good for relaxing my mind, otherwise I overthink everything (especially now I’ve hit 37 weeks - could be any day but could also be another 4 weeks!)
