Lie-flat buggy

Hi everyone

I am pregnant with my second baby and have another child who still needs a pushchair. I am looking to buy the Joie double buggy which has one seat in front of the other and says it’s suitable from birth as the seats ‘lie flat’.

I currently use a Joie single buggy which is also suitable from birth but the lie flat position is not completely flat (compared with a carrycot). Should I buy some kind of support cushion for my new baby when using the buggy? I can see from the photos online that the lie flat option on the double buggy is the same as my current single buggy i.e. not completely flat.

Also, on the single buggy I currently have the shoulder straps on the tightest option are still too big for my DD but the waist straps can go as tight as you need them to so she is fully secure. Would this still be ok for a newborn lying down as long as the waist straps are tight enough? I assume so because a carrycot doesn’t have any straps.

Any advice from anyone with experience with a newborn in a double buggy (without carrycot) would be very appreciated.

Thank you

Hi I have no idea but do they sell a newborn insert? Mothercare do a live chat service, try contacting them & ask for there advice x

Hi @MaybeButNotNow I don’t think Joie sell a newborn insert themselves but I didn’t know Mothercare have a live chat service so I will contact them thank you! x

I've found the most success in simply googling things like "easiest to fold pushchairs" there are several sites like madeformums that test, review, and make lists of tge best of different types of pushchairs.

We have a Baby Jogger City Mini Double (or some combination of those words). It says suitable from birth but, like you, I wasn’t too happy that the seat isn’t completely flat and the straps feel inappropriate to use with a newborn. They do a carrycot insert which works well Smile

Do you like it chipperchop? We will have a 2y 5m age gap and considering the City Mini Double.

I’ve got a mamas and papas sola 2 and put my 12 week old in it but as he has head hold he has it up a bit - the setting in between lie flat and upright.

I wouldn’t have put him in even the lie flat when he was a newborn as or doesn’t seem as cosy and secure as a carry cot attachment.

Maxi Cosi have a lie flat car seat travel system.

Thank you everybody for your advice. I will look into all of those options before I make my purchase!
