What's in your pram (basket)?

Having trawled the hospital bag threads and found them incredibly helpful, I thought I'd ask my next burning question directly instead...

What do you actually carry round with you when you go out with baby (pre-toddling) in the pram? What are your must-haves and don't forgets?

I know this will vary a bit depending on how you're feeding your DC and is probably fairly obvious but you'd think that about hospital bags, until you look into it as a first timer, then there's some absolute gems of ideas!

My DCs were EBF. For me, a trip into town for the day involved taking a couple of nappies, a few wipes and a muslin (to use as a cover on manky public changing tables). It fitted in my regular handbag.
Once baby was around 3 months, add a small toy / rattle. I've never understood the need for a giant back-breaking changing bag.

If you have a pukey baby, a change of top for baby and one for you. Nothing like you both getting covered in vomit to put a dampener on things.

I always had to take the sling in the basket as baby would often decide she didn't want to be in the pram half way through an outing.

Our snoozeshade has been a must have item in our pram basket for both DC.

For baby I took a couple of nappies, some wipes, muslin cloth, spare outfit (usually just a vest and babygrow), nappy cream decanted into a smaller pot, and teething gel when a little older.

For myself I would take breast pads, lanolin nipple cream, spare vest top (I had an oversupply so forever leaking through) and always had a water bottle with me

Bambamber · 14/04/2019 21:04

Oh and hand sanitiser

My changing bag has a couple of nappies, wipes, nappy cream, a change of clothes for baby, (hes got a knack for explosive pooing in public places), extra socks, and a couple of muslins. When ds was little it also had my breastfeeding shawl, teething gel, and a dummy (until he stopped accepting them). In summer it also has a hat and suncream for ds. Now hes a bit bigger it also has snacks and a cup of water for him, plus a couple of toys.

After DS1 shat all over me in pizza express I always kept an emergency change of clothes in the car/rolled up in the baby bag!

My bag always has:

Nappies
Wipes
Muslin
Change of clothes

I also have a mini Milton portable steriliser which is brilliant when you've dropped a dummy. It also fits my bottle teat incase that gets dropped.

A friend recently introduced me to Milton wipes. I use them on teething toys (too big for the portable steriliser) that get dropped when out and about, but they're also suitable for dummies etc.

We breast fed. I’d take:
Nappies
Wipes
Bags in case of no nappy bin or dirty clothes
Change of clothes for baby - usually a baby grow and vest as we had a lot of poo explosions in the early days
Hand sanitiser
Fold up changing mat for dirty tables
Muslin cloth
Dribble bib
Woolly hat for winter, sun hat for summer
Small toy

Nappies
Nappy cream
Wipes
Muslin
Blanket
Pram toy
Spare outfit
