Hello I'm new here. Hello everyone. I've just found out I'm 5 weeks pregnant and it's my first pregnancy, I'm 35. We are very happy and excited. Also very scared. I've been having some brown discharge not too much just a little and some cramps so any advice or words of encouragement would be so nice right now. I had bloods done yesterday at hospital and urine test and all is fine as I went in because I was worried about the cramps and discharge. Thanks for reading

With my first I nearly passed out several times from the early cramping. Ending up going to docs to check but all was ok.

Paracetamol, hot water bottle, plenty of fluids and rest. If you are worried at all see the doctor. Better to get checked.

Congratulations!
I’m currently pregnant with my second and I’m still second guessing everything. If you’ve been tested then hopefully everything should be fine. I had the same with this pregnancy and now 17 weeks, all going well.

Hi @KStoia. Sounds like we are in the same boat, I’m 34 and just found out I am pregnant with my first - estimated as 5 weeks based on last period date. I’ve had quite a few days of very light brown spotting - actually thought it was my period at first so I tested quite late - and a few cramps / twinges, but they are less painful and lower down than my usual period pain. If you have seen a doctor I’m sure you are doing ok, I’m assuming (and hoping) that my spotting etc is the little one getting settled in. I’ve not seen my doctor as I only found out yesterday morning but I’m going to call tomorrow and get booked in - will ask about the sporting too.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment I really appreciate it. These messages definitely made me feel better. Congratulations to you all aswell. I'm glad I'm not alone with these cramps etc. I have my first midwife appointment booked for 13th of may so I'm guessing that will be a scan? Very new to all of this feel very in the dark !

Cramping and even spotting can be normal if your uterus tilts back. Just keep an eye on it and contact the midwife if the intensity changes.

Usually you see midwife at 8 weeks for booking in. Lots of forms, she will ask about health history, and check your home making sure you are safe and doing what you need to. She will also take alot of blood which will be sent off for lots of tests.

She will then put you in for your 12 week scan.

You will see the midwife and various appointments think its about 12 times first time around (I'm on 2nd and it's only 7 timez)

Obviously if you are referred for consultancy care you may have more appointments and if like me you have a bmi over 30 you are referred for gestational diabetes.

If you download the bounty app and put your details in it's quite good at telling you what to expect and how big baby is.

Ah that’s good, makes me feel better too. Have you had any other symptoms yet? I’m mostly fine but felt very sick after coffee and again after tonic water so think I might need to watch those strong flavours!

Thanks bringbackbertha for the list of appointments too - didn’t realise there were so many. Might have to tell my boss sooner rather than later...

I've had the feeling of morning sickness and yesterday first time I got very faint feeling, boobs a little tender but not much. Lower back pain is strong at times though
