Booking in appointment

How early did everyone have their booking appointment with the midwife?

I was 10 weeks by the time I saw a midwife with my first. Due my second and I’m curious to know if I have to wait a month until I’m just over 8 weeks or if they’ll do it sooner due to me self referring earlier. The midwife on the phone said they’d just send a letter out. I’m just about to go into my 5th week

I was 10+6 when I had my booking in appointment - but we went away when I was 5+5 and didn’t get back until I was 10+5 so couldn’t possibly have gone earlier!! In this area, so long as you are seen before 12 weeks (or have a good reason for not being seen before 12 weeks), there’s no problem but they will get you seen quickly if later on.

In my area they generally see you around 10 weeks

I was 9 weeks but she did calculate my dates wrong by a week so my 16 week appointment with her was also at 15 weeks

The earliest I could get is 11+3 which is making me panic because I'll only be sent a scan date after this.

I did have a 'first contact' appointment though at 8 weeks

Mine was at the same appointment as my 12 week scan.

I think the minimum is normally 8 weeks. I guess they want the pregnancy to be a certain way along, before having formal appointments/booking 12 week scans etc. Hope it goes quickly for you - I remember really wanting to get started!

Hi, I have my booking in appointment this Tuesday, I'll be 7+1 by that point. I phoned when I was about 4+5, so booked in quite early (I'm very anxious about being organised). I'm hoping because I got in there quite early and I've got kind of a early midwife appointment that I'll get my first scan earlyish as well? Suppose I'll have to wait and see!

I hate waiting. Since finding out this entire week has just slowed down! I’m hoping they can see me fairly shortly but I know maternity is really busy in December when everyone is having their babies so I imagine now will be busy also.

Im just so ready to get through the next 9 months because I know I’ve got a lot to come between now and then before I even give birth, my first was a busy time with extra scans and extra appointments and I’m pretty sure this baby will need the extra scans and appointments too.

I had mine at 12ish weeks (11 by my EPU scan but my dating scan put me a bit further forward).

I’d already had my dating scan booked (in our trust you self refer to scan anyway) and I’d made a colleague take my booking bloods at about 6 weeks and had her check them so I knew there was no hurry as I had no reason to need a referral to a consultant or anything and knew there was nothing really that I was going to gain from a booking appointment. That’s the benefit of knowing the system inside out though.
