We're going to America next week (booked pre conception) - anyone got any tips for the flight? I normally use travel sickness tablets but more as a precaution than a necessity. I've got the wristbands to try. Do I need flight socks? Anything else that others have found useful/nice to have?

When I fly long haul I find it useful to have my water bottle with me so that I can ask the stewards to refill it in the galley - using bottled water. Saves having to keep asking for silly little cups of water. Sea sickness bands are a good plan as you say if you struggle with motion sickness. I also take some snacks with me for the flight. I always wear flight socks and walk around a lot. Shoes that are easy to get on and off for the frequent trips to the loo. Have a great holiday!

Tell the cabin crew and hopefully they'll try and keep you extra comfortable. I had a lovely first trimester flight where the crew kept offering me drinks etc. I found travel bands helped and fizzy drinks.

Drink plenty. Get an aisle seat so you can move around. I used flight socks.

I went to America around the same time and it was fine. I wore the travel socks and got up for a walk up and down the aisle frequently to try and reduce risk of DVTs. Are you suffering with nausea at the moment? I agree with the above. Get an aisle seat, stay hydrated and take lots of mints/ anti nausea sweets. Have a great holiday x

Thanks ladies! Good tip about the water bottle - I have an aisle seat too so that'll help. I've been really lucky so far - very little nausea (tiny bit first thing but a ginger biscuit in bed has sorted me out!) Mainly just knackered all of the time. Any ideas on shops where can I get travel socks? I hadn't even thought of them until today and it's a bit late to order online.

travel socks but read up how to wear them properly as my ankles swelled even when wearing them to the point I couldn't properly fit in my shoes! make.sure you walk round lots and try avoid sleeping on the plane if you can. we flew 11 hours at 6/7 weeks pregnant with no symptoms and it was only my feet and ankles that suffered
