38+4 and been having on off cramping but this evening it’s sharp short pain comes quite frequently

Any experience of something similar, I don’t assume it’s labour as none of the others were early but never experienced it before

Sounds like contractions to me, how far apart are they?

littlehelp · 12/04/2019 18:17

They are literally short sharp pains not regular though 😮

Ive had that for a couple weeks and I'm pregnant with my 3rd my midwife said because it's not regular its just braxton hicks, but when I explained it was painful she just shurgged and said that happens the more pregnancies you have.
So apparently just painful practice contractions for us mummies who have more than one. But I dont think it's an everyone kind of rule, just us lucky ones 😂
That being said if your really worried phone your midwife or someone just to see what they say. You never know the explanation they may be able to give.

Currently expecting dc5, think i would have a bath and see how you feel then op

WeTookVows · 12/04/2019 20:20

Just had DC4.

Contractions weren't longer than 30 seconds, were irregular and not closer than 4 minutes apart until I was 8cm+. Felt v embarrassed when I went to hospital (at DH's insistence as I felt "weird, hot and sweaty") and was sure I'd be sent home...

Have a bath and see how you go but keep an open mind. All my labours have been so different!

I got to hospital at 7cm with my dc4! Perhaps this is a common thing

littlehelp · 12/04/2019 20:47

My DC3 I went hospital and was 7cm didn’t feel too painful lol

I don’t think my last labour was regular contractions time will tell it’s amazing how different every pregnancy and labour is definitely wanting the pain to know the end is in sight lol 😂

Is it like a stitch pain? If yes, I had this the other week and I was worried about labour... it settled down and went. Mentioned to my midwife and she said it was probably muscular or round ligament pains.

Either way, I'd keep an eye on it... doesn't hurt to ring your midwife for advise if you're not sure.
