I don't get this not eating thing - in France you continue with shell fish and soft cheeses...and surely - alcohol in moderation is fine...

well exactly so far tbh i've been carrying on as normal, it was only after I ate a snickers I thought ooh I shouldn't have nuts.

Don't eat pate or rare steaks or raw eggs or soft ice cream, all meat cooked properly, i ate snickers though we don't have any nut allergies in the family, i think if you have your supposed to avoid them

I think common sense has to be your guide here.

Here's an official list of what you should not eat...

www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/article.aspx?articleId=917

And here's an interesting article from the Guardian website about many of the above foods.

society.guardian.co.uk/health/story/0,,2090058,00.html

Common sense has to prevail in a lot of circumstances, and since getting pregnant I've eaten brie, unpasteurised ice cream, rare steak, peanuts, unwashed vegetables and coleslaw. I'm still here, and so is the bean.

i'm ment to wash veg as well? oh dear. I thought shop brought coldslaw and cheese cakes were ok. (please tell me they are - can't not eat them, and with DS DH was on a major you're not allowed to eat it so your not trip.)

Don't know about cheese cakes but you can definately eat shop bought coleslaw and shop bought mayo as the eggs are pasteurised its only home made mayo you can't eat
