D&C - Missed Miscarriage

Hello

I'm looking for some advice from anyone that's had a D&C..

Unfortunately, at our 12 week scan on 14 March, we found out that our baby no longer had a heartbeat and had stopped growing at 10 weeks. It was completely heartbreaking for both of us - we'd had no signs whatsoever, my body was still showing all signs of being pregnant.

I had my D&C on 17 March. I then started bleeding from 20 March - 2 days were quite heavy bleeding with some clots (I'm so sorry if this is TMI!). It's now 10 April and I am still bleeding, it's been quite light throughout but today there's been some really tiny clots and it's got heavier than it has been (still not particularly heavy).

I rang the Early Pregnancy Unit today and they suggested that I phone my GP. I then rang my GP who doesn't seem to know at all, she just said it's unusual to be bleeding for longer than 7 days, even more unusual to be bleeding over 14 days (I'm now on day 21!) - she's going to phone the EPU and try to get some more advice.

I was wondering if anyone else has had prolonged bleeding following a D&C and whether it's normal!?

Thank you x

P.S. I also got pneumonia so was admitted to hospital on 27 March.

This doesn’t sound right at all, I had a d&c last year and bleed for 5-6, but wasn’t heavy. I would be concerned you have a possible infection, are you in any pain op?

Follow up with EPAU ASAP, and yourself seen again! I hope that things turn out alright for you.

bled

I’m also sorry about your scan, I’ve a similar story - but this is prolonging the nightmare for you! Hope EPAU show you more sympathy!

Def go back and insist you're seen. Have you had a follow up scan?

So sorry for your loss Thanks

Thank you for your replies.

I'm not in any pain, no. I thought I might have got an infection when I had pneumonia symptoms but obviously it wasn't.

I haven't had a follow up scan either - I did take a test on Sunday (7 April) that was negative but I guess I could still get a false negative result?
