Anti depressants and pregnancy

Hi,
I had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago and I’m just thinking about the future and trying again after my next period.
Just wondering if anyone else out there is on anti-depressants? I was on 20 mg of citalopram when I found out about my last pregnancy. My GP halved that to 10 mg which I have been on since.
Not sure whether to try and come off it completely before trying again.

So sorry about your loss

I am v early in pregnancy and went to see my GP last week because I am on 40mg of Citalopram.

She had actually been to a specific talk about antidepressants in pregnancy - she is happy for me to stay on them however she prescribed some 10mg and 20mg tablets and I'm alternating 30mg one day and 40mg the next. The risks were all low and mums mental health is v.important.

She said Sertraline is the safest antidepressant but I tried that before Citalopram and it made me feel like death warmed up!

Good luck x

@vapevamp12
Thank you. My GP had mentioned that the baby could have a couple of days withdrawal for a few days after birth and that if I wanted to breastfeed they would swap me to sertraline.
Not that that matters anymore but hopefully will be trying again in a few weeks so it’s good to know for the future god willing xx

I was on citalopram 20mg and I'm also on anti psychotics. My psychiatrist has told me that SSRI's which sertraline and citalopram come under carry a small risk of leaving the baby with a heart defect. I've decided to come off them, so he withdrew me over a 3 day period so I could come off it quickly x
