I have the coil, I had what I thought was my period last week but with a lot of additional pain, today I've been getting dull pain in my left side. I did a pregnancy test and it was positive, but my hcg levels (clear blue test, said 1-2 when I would be 2-3 or 3-4) are much lower than they should be. Could this be ectopic or have I just miscarried? (Seeing a Dr this pm) is it too early to scan?

The fact you have a coil and dull ache sound like it could be ectopic. Glad you have an appointment but ectopic concerns will be seen at A and E as they can become an emergency very quickly.

Thank you for your reply, I'm seeing the Dr in an hour, I'm hoping he'll refer me to be scanned.

The Dr should especially as you’ve mentioned one sided pain.

I had one sided pain and was sent straight to EPAU for bloods to be taken and an internal scan.

Hope they've taken you seriously. There was another thread similar from a couple of days ago and they have fobbed her off!

Hi how did it go? Hope that it went well. I had pain on my left side really bad pain i thought the same but it wasnt everything was fine ,i did get 2 scans one straight away and another 2wks later. Anyone else who gets pain on one side does need to get it checked out to be safe.

Thanks all. Yes they did take me seriously thankfully, Dr referred me straight to EPU. EPU scanned me and did a speculum examination. Coil is in the place where it should be although no threads so will need to be removed at some point. No pregnancy could be located which could mean I've been miscarrying or it's too soon for anything to be seen. They've taken bloods and will check my hcg levels later in the week. It seems most likely it is a miscarriage (as I only obtained 1-2 weeks pregnant on a clear blue test when I should be beyond that by now). I feel numb, never expected to be pregnant again, feels very strange to be referred to as 5 weeks pregnant, looking for pregnancies etc, I'm lucky enough to have never experienced a miscarriage, obviously wasnt planning being pregnant, but I still feel very sad and can't explain it.

When you’ve been pregnant before you have been excited and hopeful etc so those are the feelings you associate with pregnancy so no wonder you feel sad. Flowers
