My 2 pregnancy’s with my daughters where both early 1st 2weeks early 2nd 1week early

Now I’m pregnant with my son and I’ve gone over due I had a appointment 2days who and he hasn’t engaged .

I lost some mucus plug and had a bloody show about 2weeks ago and nothing happened.

I have had some more mucus plug come out a few hours ago .

I have a appointment tomorrow for a sweep and a scan down below to see how big he his ???

Can I have some advice and tips or peoples experiences because I have never been overdue and I’ve no idea what to do or expect or do ?

I hope I get some responses x

My third was 2 weeks late. Felt like 2 years

princessachica · 07/04/2019 19:39

Is there any reason why babies come late ?

My third was 40+2. Hopefully not too long for you. I had a sweep which was uncomfortable a few days earlier but don't think it did anything.

I have two, one nine days late one two days early. I font think there is any rhyme or reason to it to be honest. Good luck!

I wouldn't worry too much babies generally aren't considered late until 42 weeks + because scans and dates can be inaccurate and pregnancy isn't a bang on 40 week job. I can tell you that sweeps worked for me with my kids and can only hope you have some success with yours.

With regards to not being engaged I wouldn't fret. Apparently 2nd, 3rd 4th etc babies don't play ball with engaging 😂! Apparently they pop in and out when they please, and some don't engage at all until labour.

Thank your for all your messages ☺️

Hopefully this mucus plug that came out today will mean labour soon my first the mucus plug came out in the morning and morning and I started contracting by that night .

Do sweeps hurt ? I’ve never had one before a bit nervous for one tomorrow . Hopefully the sweep will do something for me.

I Engaged with both my first and second and this time I haven’t engaged it’s so different that’s probably why he’s late ?

My pregnancies got longer each time. First 38 weeks exactly; second 40+8; last one was 40+10, at which point I'd had enough and agreed to induction (reasonably standard at 40+10 over here, although they said I could go another day or two if I wanted).

If/when you go into labour, don't necessarily hang about. Things can happen very quickly and unpredictably with third babies. With mine, after the gel and then a few hours of nothing followed by pathetic little contractionettes, I went from 2cm to birth in 20 minutes.
