So I heard from a couple of mama friends and other mamas that they felt once they had their 20 week scan that the rest of their pregnancy flew by for them. I'm almost 23 weeks and I feel pretty much prepared for little ones arrival, we've finished the nursery, got the pram, cot, Moses basket and TONS of babygrows.
Have I maybe started too early?
Is there anything you wish you had done before baby is born?

Slept. Cinema. Go out without a bag full of baby bits. Decide to leave the house on a whim.

Also, sorry, but I cringe everytime I hear mama and 'mama friends' is just awful. I know that's unkind, but I can't bear it.

Nowthenforever2019 · 07/04/2019 10:35

I didn't sort pram or any of that until much later. My mum did my hospital bag for me at about 33 weeks as a gift, which was very sweet.

What about doing a hypnobirthing course?

PhoebeBear · 07/04/2019 10:39

@Nowthenforever2019 funny you say that- I was at the cinema last night with my sister 😊 I've tried to relax as much as I can before my life gets hectic but I'm a terrible person for staying in, even if it means going for a meal or shopping on my days off work.
Also I haven't thought about hospital bag yet, good point. I think I'll do that more around the 30+ week mark. Hows parenting going for you?x

Also about the courses- I have my measuring app tomorrow with midwife and she says she'll give me more information on the courses I can take too. I'm definitely going to give them a go!

Go have meals out and cinema and just leave the house on a whim as much as you can.

Sleep all that you can without guilt.

Watch every movie you want to watch.

Have a baby moon ( baby. Honeymoon ) yes it extra expense but holidaying will never be the same

I got married when 4 months pregnant and my brother in law has kindly offered to pay for a small caravan holiday as a gift husband and I are looking into it with our now 20 week old son ... and I am seriously considering 2 cars 😂😂 we need to buy a travel cot too 🙄

It’s amazing being a mum honestly but leaving the house and doing anything really is a massive undertaking

Oh if you get a nappy bag I wish I had got a back pack one ... the one that came with my buggy is over the shoulder and when your trying to just grab baby out of car with an over the shoulder bag and another bag for all of his Toys it just keep slipping off the shoulder ... very annoying x x

In my previous pregnancies i have found the last weeks dragged!

This time i haven't yet bought a single thing, (18 weeks now) and am not planning to do so until after next scan. Its gone fairly fast for me this time but i already have 4dc to look after!

MynameisJune · 07/04/2019 10:43

I think you might have peaked too early! The last trimester drags by, no matter what you do. I’m 34 weeks with my second. Haven’t even looked at my hospital bag yet. There is only so much Netflix and stuff you can watch and you need to save some for when the baby is here and you’re potentially stuck under a sleeping/bf’ing baby.

mynameiscalypso · 07/04/2019 10:43

I'm about a week behind you and have done precisely zero. Do you want to come and organise the baby preparations for us? 😂

PhoebeBear · 07/04/2019 10:46

Thanks for the replies! Yes I had a feeling no matter what it will drag towards the end. A old school friend who is a neighbour of mine is 37 weeks and she says she wished it was over from week 30 as her back is in so much pain and she's just desperate for babies arrival now

@mynameiscalypso happily! It's my first so I didn't know when to start really but since I had the odd gifts from people I thought let's buy some drawers to put stuff away and it's went from there! Now I'm just twiddling my fingers haha. Another friend of mine made a comment she was 2 weeks further than me and hasn't started preparing yet and that I freaked her out- I said really don't worry haha as once nursery is set up then there's not much left to do x

Thing with the nursery though, you will barely use it in the next year Shock you should sleep instead

Aimily · 07/04/2019 10:56

Im 26 weeks and I have to say your friends are right the past 6 weeks have flown. However you're much more prepared than me. I've only got pram, car seat and moses basket. Not thought about anything else, keep saying 18th July (due date) is forever away 😂 this is my first too, so I have no idea what prepared is 😳

My dp and I are trying to spend more time together and with the dog as we're both aware the next few years are going to be totally different.
More day trips, just going out walking or to the cinema, dinner etc
Decorating the house (he's done the bathroom this weekend, looking at the kitchen next and he wants to do the living room too)
Lazy days in bed together (today's plan)

Just enjoy yourself and be with your partner

PhoebeBear · 07/04/2019 11:27

@Aimily that's good advice.
And congrats to you and your pregnancy too! 💕

We've just finished decorating our living room last week and I knew once little one was here we will never find the time! I think it's best for me just to make the most of 'baby free time'
I'm taking my nana out today for a meal before im back to work tomorrow, making the most of it x

Aimily · 07/04/2019 11:33

@PhoebeBear thank you and you too! Have you found yourself nesting yet? I think dp is the pregnant one not me in this instance 😂

Have fun with your nana and absolutely make the most of it, life will never be the same for us, in the best way possible 😍
