Hi, just looking for some advice.

Last few days I've had a really bad back, worse in the mornings but I have an office job so finding it difficult when sitting at my desk too. I've had time off work this week because it's been so bad too.

Hot water bottle or a warm bath help at the time but once the heat is taken away it's back to agony again.

Things were a bit better yesterday so thought I was getting over the worst of it. I got up this morning and sneezed, NO idea what happened but it is absolutely agony now.

Is this normal? I saw my GP this week and he said maybe a couple of weeks early but not impossible. I just can't imagine being like this for the rest of my pregnancy 😭 xxxxx

Hi there, I'm 22 weeks and I've never had back problems before but I surely do now! I noticed my back starting to ache each day but sometimes it's started on my days off work too so I'm think it's not all work related. I work on a cosmetics aisle and I'm lifting heavy totes (with help from other employees) and I'm bending down all the time and on my knees. However yesterday was my day off and I went to Ikea to to the cinema and the pain started.
I think no matter what it's going to happen but like you said with hot water bottles and maybe some paracetamol might help you x

I’m 32 weeks , I have horrendous back pain brings me to tears each day I can hardly walk 🙄 I’ve seen a physio-bit rubbish - he said things tend to either ease up or get worse as you get further along but to not push myself to walk if I can’t , he also said I can come back whenever I like and after birth. The stretch he gave me to do actually makes it worse 🙄 I think they provide crutches but not much they can do, I just do lots of resting and hot water bottles paracetamol and baths. Also get my partner to help pull me up when he’s here 🙈 I’m also going to buy a support belt online to try might be worth looking into ?

I am exactly the same!! DH was out for a few hours earlier and my back was so bad that I couldn't do anything like getting my socks and pants on until he got home 😂 it's not always this bad it comes and goes, and I did expect a bad back during pregnancy but not at 16 weeks! Can I ask, when did yours start?

Yes I did think about the belt! Hmm... I will investigate! I just worry maybe it means there is something wrong with my baby? Or is that just being paranoid?? Xxxx

I kept getting sciatica pain from around 19 weeks (30+2 now) especially sitting at a desk all day. I tried a foot rest and that really helped, and got a good chair where you can adjust the lumbar support. May be worth asking hr if they can do a risk assessment and get you some aids to help at work?

The other thing which may help is finding a pregnancy yoga /pilates class as that can help strengthen the back muscles which again may help?

Hope you get some relief soon.

You know what I hadn't even thought of a foot rest but that does sound like a good idea and easy to do! I will try that. Dreading going to work tomorrow because I don't have DH to help me with everything 😂 I did some looking around and going to ask my GP about the possibility of PGP. Do you still have pain now?

It comes and goes and no pain in the middle of the pelvis so don't think it is pgp just regular sciatica. I think it is definitely more common later in pregnancy so just trying to keep active with gentle exercise big bolster pillow to put between knees to sleep with and asking for help more than I would like but worth it not to be in as much pain.

Like I said I have an appointment tomorrow anyway so I'm going to just ask the question. Just spent an hour in the bath, much better but still sore! Just worried it could be something more sinister...

Hi Ken, I'm 16+5 and I've also been suffering with this for about 6 weeks now, although mines actually improved this past week. I'm also sat in an office job so I feel your pain!

A pregnancy support belt like this has really helped- not that particular one, just picked a link from Google. But one with support at the top and the bottom.
Get a step for under your desk to use as a footstool, nothing too high. Try to actually sit back in your chair with the belt on and use the footstool as and when- I find I naturally sit forward.
Get a cushion for in your car for the base of your back, and try moving your chair back a bit so your legs are a little bit straighter.
Lay down lots! I fight it for as long as I can, but it's so much better when you lay.

😂 I get mine to put my knickers an trousers on when he’s here bless him! Pain started in my lower back mildly around week 25 then it’s gradually got worse as baby’s getting bigger 😞
I don’t think it’s something sinister dont worry , I’m sure some other woman have got it as early as you , my baby got himself head down early an always feels so low so I think it’s the way he’s positioned that plays a part.
I feel your pain though it’s bloody awful I feel like I will end up not being able to walk by the end I’ve noticed a grinding feeling on one side today !
The physio said mines not spd as it’s not in the pelvis but I’d definalty go as they will check for you xxx

Thank you!! I have a gender scan on Thursday anyway so will get to see baby and hopefully that'll ease my worries. Will have to invest in a band and a foot stool, I mean if it's this bad now I can only imagine how bad I'll be at full term 😭 to be fair DH has been really good the last few days, think he thought I was putting it on to start with mind 😂 I will speak to GP and see what they say but not too hopeful 👀 this is our rainbow baby so every little thing that happens worries me xxxx
