Nickname for baby in utero?

I just wondered if it was just me - but did you give your dd or ds a nickname whilst it was in utero? My dh and I used to refer to the baby as the bert.

Ours was Babble and dd is still called that now (and answers to it!- Hannah Babble). Ds was called wriggler but graduated to being a Babble when he was born. Now he is Samuel Babble. I am fully expecting the kids to tell the teachers their sirname is babble and be approaches on parents evenings as Mrs Babble!

NdeP ours was prawn too! Then once the kicking started it was Muffin (as in the mule)

handbagaddiction · 10/09/2004 16:18

From 17 weeks, dd was called 'wriggly'. Speaks for itself really!!

dinosaur · 10/09/2004 16:27

DS1 - Ajax Worthington

DS2 - Bingo

DS3 - Freddie

dejags · 10/09/2004 16:44

DS1: Baby Deej (see my mumsnet nickname - self explanatory)

DS2: Baby Lollypop (all I could eat for about a week when the morning sickness was really awful)

Neither stuck after birth...

big bum - she keeps sticking her bottom really far out of my bump, and even with my clothes on my bump looks really uneven and weird!

Seabird · 10/09/2004 17:28

years ago while stuck in traffic, dh & I decided to call our kids Spatula (for the girl)& Ketchup (boy). So... dd was Spatula (Spatch for short) & this one is Ketchup

Oooggs · 10/09/2004 17:45

Just boring old 'Junior'!!!!!!

Miaou · 10/09/2004 17:47

My granny called her bump "Lionel", which turned out to be my mum in the end. My sil called hers "muffin" - I hadn't thought of the mule thing, I assumed it was because it was a bun(muffin) in the oven!!

popsycal · 10/09/2004 19:24

DD was ipsy pipsy I know, I know, but ips are her initials. (We were going to call her by the names swapped round but we thought a lifetime with 'pis' being her initials was really too much!!) We still call her pips for short!!
DS I'm afraid to say didn't have one bless..

cazzybabs · 10/09/2004 21:08

Beazulbub for this one because dd is so welbehaved this one is bound to be a nightmare and for dd we called her the thing.

toddlerbob · 10/09/2004 23:26

Arkid - I come from the North and so "our kid" is a nickname for a brother or sister, but we adapted it. I actually fancied it as a middle name as nobody in NZ would know...

fabarooney · 11/09/2004 08:42

Smudge and Pootle.

eidsvold · 11/09/2004 09:17

boring old bubba - same as dd - poor dd will have a little bit of an identity crisis as we still call her bubba or bubs at times.

Friend called dd roo - and me kanga ( being an aussie in the UK) she felt it was appropriate and dd is still called roo by said friend.

kiwicath · 11/09/2004 18:44

"The Boy" - bless him, he's still called that aged 8.5 months.

tex111 · 11/09/2004 18:49

Pickle. DH picked it and it stuck but now I usually call him Cowboy (see my nickname ).

sassy · 12/09/2004 08:08

Both of mine were called Wombat - cos they lived in a womb!

webmum · 12/09/2004 08:54

baby2 is beanler or little bean (trying to translate from italian), I can't remember what we called dd1!!!!! Maybe we didn't have one.....

SamP · 12/09/2004 10:42

Ours is 'Bob' as in 'Bob the bump'!!

sweetkitty · 12/09/2004 17:23

apple seed - the size she was when we found out

from 23 weeks she was called by her real name

fisil · 12/09/2004 19:12

The Baby. With capital letters (and always with The). On formal occassions "Today's The Baby". Not a clue why - came from dp. New one is too new to have a name yet. But it will be Inian.
