First pregnancy - things you enjoyed

I'm almost 27 weeks and, so far, have had a pretty miserable time being pregnant for various health reasons. It's a high risk pregnancy with lots of appointments, low energy/disagnosed depression and just about managing at work. With the third trimester approaching I'm keen to try and enjoy some of my pregnancy. Looking for inspiration and things to do in upcoming annual leave and early mat leave. I know it's never all rainbows and unicorns, but it would be good to have a more positive overall memory of this time and a better mindset for when the baby arrives.

I'm a fair bit behind you but things I've enjoyed so far:

  • researching things to buy - pram, cot, etc.
  • planning the nursery, Pinterest is my new BFF
  • using pregnancy apps like Ovia and Bounty to learn about how the baby is developing, what size it is each week, what bodily changes are happening in me as pregnancy progresses
  • Taking bump pics, looking back at how my body has changed as pregnancy develops
  • Using my posh Clarins body oil on my bump and boobs after a bath or shower
  • Shopping for maternity outfits. (I'm not going crazy, but a few basics that I can mix and match plus a couple of nice maternity dresses to get my through the summer)
  • Planning my baby shower with my mum who is hosting (again, lots of nice ideas on Pinterest)

There's probably loads more, I'll update if I can think of any.

I do hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. It's such a special time Flowers

I'm with you OP - not as far along but so far I've been told not to come back to my job after mat leave (thanks morning sickness for making my performance so poor in the last few months), sat through the death of a close relative, and my husband's been sent overseas for work for the foreseeable. It's horrible when everyone around you is assuming it's all unicorns and rainbows and it's actually anything but!

I've been making the baby a Spotify playlist of all the songs I think are all-time classics and 'playing' them to my bump - start them young and all that. I'm also trying to plan out the nursery on Pinterest, and do bump massage as well. One thing I have loved doing is I set up an email address for the little one and have been sending it messages throughout the pregnancy for later on in life!

Sorry to hear you've been having such a tough time.

My first pregnancy was hard with loads of medical appointments and complications - my favourite memories are lying in the bath relaxing watching baby move around.
When the good weather arrived and I started my leave I would spend lots of time relaxing outside and snoozing in the sunshine.

I hope you can enjoy the last weeks, but don't put yourself under pressure to be all 'making memories' - sometimes it's just crap Smile

Heya.

I’m 35 weeks now, things I have enjoyed are,

  1. Washing his baby clothes & Putting them in his drawers/doing his nursery
  2. I enjoy lying on my back in bed & poking my stomach/playing with him
  3. Baby prediction cards for friends & family

Good luck xx
