Rib Pain at 26 weeks - Anyone Else!??

Hi Ladies

Currently 26 weeks and have been having rib pain for the last couple of weeks. But over the last few days it’s seems to be getting so painful, it’s mainly the right side and goes from under my boob all the way round to my back.
I have an office job which actually makes it worse, by the end of the day i’m in agony and the only relief I get is when I lay a certain way.

Has anyone else suffered with this?
I’m thinking of going to the doctors tomorrow, i’m hoping they will sign me off for a week or so because I don’t know how much longer I can cope with journey (2 trains and a bus) and sitting all day.
Is that reasonable ? I worry work will judge me, but I have my laptop so can still sign in whilst laying flat 😂

I would get this checked, I don’t wish to worry you but this could be gallbladder pain and that can be linked to pre-eclampsia.
Hopefully it’s nothing to worry about in your case and you are ok and feeling less sore soon.

Yes definitely get checked but I had awful rib pain throughout both of my pregnancies and it was just one of those things. It was awful.

The baby could be sitting in an awkward place I remember something similar in my pregnancy, the physio gave me some exercises to do and told me to get into the pool. Hopefully, it's nothing sinister but best to get checked either way.

Thank you!! Yeah I will definitely get it checked out tomorrow! I’m sure it’s probably just my growing uterus pushing against my ribs.
But better safe than sorry! Xx

Get it checked. The least worrisome possibility is 'rib flare' caused by the stretching of your intercostal muscles. But rib pain can be caused by a variety of things!!

The pain sounds just like what I had a couple of weeks ago and it was gallstones and cholecystitis. It was only on my right side in my ribs below my boob and round to the right side of my back. However the pain was unbearable (worse than labour in my opinion) and came on suddenly not over a couple of weeks like you but definitely worth getting checked out just in case.

I had really awful rib pain from about the same time. My gp sent me to hospital because he thought it could be pulmonary Embolism so it's worth checking. It wasn't, but it's best to be seen.

After that I had to just live with it!

I have this. Exactly as the poster above, I was sent to hospital for a check up in case it was a pulmonary embolism. It wasn't but good of them to try and pin in down to something. Several weeks later I still have the severe pain and prescription painkillers but no real answer as to the cause. It's really getting me down. Mine is on the left though.
