34+1 + a cold - feeling sorry for myself!

Is anyone else wading through the last few weeks of pregnancy with a cold? It started on the morning of my birthday (last Saturday) and hasn't gone yet.

At least I'm not at work though, as I had to use up all of my leave + accrued leave before ML because I'm planning a career break. Being at home, unable to bend and do cleaning/DIY/useful stuff is a bit boring though, so any suggestions for nice things to do when you're the size of a Wales would be much appreciated - thanks!

Poor you feeling so rotten. I am only 23 weeks, but had a virus last week, temperature, sore throat, pounding headache, couldn't eat and was being v. sick, so can empathise with feeling so crappy! DH was away on business too so was feeling very sorry for myself too! Feel much better this week with 'only' snotty and croaky-ness which I can cope with in comparison!

In terms of suggestions, never mind about the housework / DIY / useful stuff, put your feet up and look after yourself. In 6 or so weeks time you'll not have a moment to spare, so indulge yourself in daytime TV (goodness I'd forgotten how bad it is until 3 days ill nearly drove me insane!) watch your favourite old videos etc, or spend endless hours virtual shopping for cute baby stuff (choosing but not pressing 'add to basket' is just as much fun!).

And if you feel snotty but don't want to take any paracetomol then a mug of hot ribena works wonders! Hope you are feeling better soon!

Hi gerbiltamer. It's not fun being sick and pg.

Yup had full blown flu last week- 35 weeks I stayed in bed, read a little, but felt so poorly i had to resort to cough medciene, paracetomol for high temperature, vicks and eucalptus oil for congestion, hot honey and lemon drinks and warm salty water for throat and also steamy baths.

This week I'm still so tired I can't do much, hopefully some energy will return before bubs

Hi Gerbiltamer,
Come and join us on the August Ante-natal thread. Hours of entertainment!!
Otherwise I would recommend a good maternity massage/pedicure etc and a bath. Put some tea tree oil in an oil burner to keep your nose clear - wroks really well and is actually anti-viral, so could help speed up recovery?

Hi Gerbil - I'm 35+1 and over the weekend have started to come down with a stinking cold too. Feeling very sorry for myself as I'm having to drag myself into work - finish on Friday thank God but I really wish I'd finished earlier.

I've ordered the BBC adaptation of Pride & Prejudice on DVD to enjoy next week - an unadulterated Mr Darcy fest is just what I need

Apart from that I'm just planning to gently potter around and do some very light housework

Hi all,

Thanks for your splendid replies and I hope you're all feeling much better now. I think I'm almost over my early maternity leave grump and am indeed enjoying lazing around. I'm defo spending money on the internet though, but not too much as Mothercare are doing a special offer if you spend over £150 and stick in the code BHA before 19th August.

I think I'm on the August ante-natal thread, although I sometimes get this site mixed up with Netmums!
