Am I having my baby soon???

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could help me at all. I went to see my local midwife yesterday and had a stretch and sweep as I was due on Monday just gone. She said I was 2cm dialated but my baby's head isn't engaged. She also told me that the baby's back is against my back. I had a show this morning and have been suffereing from severe lower back pain (a bit like period pains). I've heard this could mean I'm in labour but I'm not sure. I had the baby's heart beat monitored at the hospital yesterday due to lack of movement from the baby. They said the baby was fine and that I was having contractions, but I couldn't feel them?!? Am I in labour? Or will the baby be on its way anytime soon???

I had both my two within 12 hours of having a show if that helps.

I've waited three weeks after a show before I went into labour. Infact I only ever noticed one show out of all 6 pgs . At 18 days over with ds3 I was 3 cms dilated and had been for 2 weeks. An hour before he was born I was still 3 cms dilated

Just goes to show you never can tell

Good luck with it all and I hope you have a fabbie birth!

Everyone is very different, and it may be all about to happen, I'm afraid its impossible to say.

I've been having a show for about 2 weeks, contractions coming and going, 5 sweeps and 13 days over, IME it could go on (and I'm having number 4). Sounds bad, but it really isn't. I found out today that I am 6 cm dilated with no real pain.

So all I want to say is take it easy, let your body do what its doing and try to relax through it. It might not be imminent, but it might be easier than you could have anticipated. Good luck

Well at least something is happening i suppose thats a good thing! I had 4 contractions in about 20 minutes on the monitor and didn't even have a twinge! My back is killing but like you've said everyone is different. It seems neverending

3days your back is hurting most probably because your back to back this is normal when in this position - sounds promising keep walking around as much as you can and try and have a nice bath to relieve your back a bit good luck hopefully wont be much longer x

back2back labour will be painful and slow. good way to relieve teh pain during contractions is to get someone to lean heavily on your back. good luck!
