Hi,

I'm currently undergoing tests for Antiphospholipid Syndrome after losing my 1st pregnancy suddenly at 21 weeks. I've tested positive after one test but have been told they need to have two positive results before they can officially diagnose me. We've been told not to try for another until they know for sure.
Can anyone share any success stories of pregnancies with this condition? feeling pretty anxious about it and terrified of further losses... I don't think my heart could take another.
Thanks xxxx

I had this in pregnancy too so completely understand your anxiety and I’m sorry for your loss.

All my losses (4 in total, including 1 ectopic) were before 9 weeks. I was investigated by Prof Reagan at The Miscarriage Clinic, St Mary’s and was found to have APAS. In my next pregnancy I was put on 75 mg of aspirin initially. This was upped to 150mg at about 6/7 weeks as my blood was getting ‘sticky’. I also injected Clexane every day until I was 36 weeks. It was an anxious time but I was regularly scanned and delivered a healthy DD. 2 years later I had DS following the same treatment regime. Wishing you all the best.

Not exactly the same but I was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden when I developed a massive bloody clot in my leg at 5 weeks. It also causes your blood to clot too easily, and can caused miscarriages. As the previous poster mentioned, I was also prescribed Clexane throughout my pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.

I have a anti-thrombin 3 and protein c deficiency.. basically APS but my team haven't done a 2nd set of bloods for diagnosis Hmm

I started on Asprin 75mg when I got my BFP. This increased to 150mg with a fragmin (heparin) injction daily at 9wks, and will continue until 36 weeks. I had 4 early mcs before this was picked up.

It's probably one of the better RMC diagnoses to have in that it seems to respond to treatment. I'm under consultant care but it's been a really straightforward pregnancy. I'll have a few growth scans but that's it. I'm 24+7 today.

Someone else on the TTC after MC thread had APS diagnosed and she's in a similar stage of pregnancy to me
