Hi, I got a v faint bfp on Saturday afternoon the day my af was due. I then got a clear bfp the day after as I used a cb digital and it said "pregnant 1-2". Then this morning I started spotting - only when I wipe. Spoke to early pregnancy unit who were lovely and said that if it was continuing into next week to phone to make an appointment. I then went and panic bought a couple of FRER's, and did one just now - it's just the faintest line ever, like barely there. Admittedly my wee looked VERY diluted (I drink a lot of water), but surely 4 days after period due this shouldn't matter...?
Appreciate any thoughts/comments. Feeling really sad which I know is silly given how early this is :-(

Sorry hun when I've experienced something similar it's always been a chemical pregnancy - FRER are so sensitive that if you got a positive on a digital a few days ago but now only very faint on FRER then it sounds like HCG levels could be low
Look after yourself - doesn't matter how early you are in pregnancy it's still important to you x

Thanks so much for replying seriouslyreally. That is what I thought - Just trying to cling on to some hope that it's due to diluted urine; but i know that's probably unrealistic. Will test again in the morning...

Spotting can be very normal in healthy pregnancies. I know it's hard, but try not to rely on the strength of the lines. I know a lot of people use them to try and track pregnancy but it's not a reliable indicator. I vividly remember someone posting on here about how their lines got continually darker only for them to discover they had experienced a mmc at their 12 week scan.

Keep an eye on the spotting. If it gets heavier, becomes bright red or you experience any pain, call your GP. They may well refer you to the EPU. Trust your instincts and if you feel something is wrong, pick up the phone. Good luck Smile

Can I ask you whether when this happened to you you had any other symptoms apart from the spotting? I’m not getting any cramps or anything (at the moment anyway...)

Aw thank you so much for your reassuring words needanappp - really appreciate it. Trying my best to be logical and sensible about the whole thing, but it’s so hard

I personally didn't experience it but a lot of my friends who have children did in the first trimester. If it's on the pink/brown side rather than the red and it's no more than spotting then it's most likely normal. But as I say, always call if there's any doubt because every pregnancy is different x

4 days after your period is due is still very early and personally I wouldn't use the line on your test as an indicator of HCG levels. Test lines can be affected by lots of factors right down to how well they've been stored in the warehouse. Keep an eye on your spotting. If it gets heavier then you may be having a chemical pregnancy but personally I would leave it another 3-4 days before testing again.
I am 28 weeks now and had negative or very faint tests until I was 3-4 weeks pregnant.

Thanks Maddis - that’s really good to hear. Out of interest did you get any spotting early on? Wondering if there’s a correlation between spotting and faint lines...

No I didn't get early spotting (but know lots of people who did) but I have had the off bit of spotting in my second trimester particularly after a bowel movement or sex. My midwife said pinky or brown spotting is very common in pregnancy. Unfortunately only time will tell for sure and waiting in the first trimester is so hard! Everything crossed for you.

Millie2008 · 03/04/2019 16:57

Thanks Maddis. Keeping everything crossed too. Will def test in a few days as suggested x

@Millie2008 that first PP is bullshit, you need to hold your wee for at least 4 hours and not drink in that time to get an 'accurate' result!!!

I had bleeding at 4 weeks and baby is fine x
