Me and my dp are ttc our first and want to it be a surprise (if/when it happens) for our parents.

I’m a tad useless at cutesy surprise things so I was wondering has anyone done any fun pregnancy reveals to their friends/family?

Hi Beclaboo my DP was laughing at me as I got a BFP today and have already come up with an idea!

Going to put a sign on our dog's harness saying "I'm going to be a big brother!" Then we'll send him in first and he'll greet everyone like he always does waggy tail and cuddles and that will be it. Probably seems silly and twee but each to their own, it will work well for us.

Now not sure when to tell the family as 12 weeks seems so long to wait, we see them every few days or so Confused

@melonise that’s so lovely!! It make take a while for people to get the gist too which will be all the more fun! I know what you mean it would be difficult to wait that long! I’m awful at keeping my own secrets!

We announced in December so I got personalised Christmas tree ornaments on Etsy, parents loved them! There’s a tonne of stuff on Etsy, might give you ideas x

We had planned to have everyone round for dinner and were going to have place cards with nannie xxxx, granny xxxx, granda xxxx, uncle xxxx etc on them.

As it happens we found out just before our wedding and by the time we got back from honeymoon my "morning" sickness was awful so we got little cards from Etsy (I think) that said "Guess what" on the front and "you're going to be grandparents/uncle/uncle and auntie" inside. They loved them and both sets of grandparents have the cards on display ☺️

With DC1, we found out just before Father's Day so I ordered cards for my Dad and FIL that said "next Father's Day you will be a grandad".

This time around we bought DC1 a t shirt that says "Promoted to Big Brother in October 2019" which he wore to our parents house. We will take a picture of him wearing it on Friday to send out to friends and family after our 12 weeks scan.

I told my mum this weekend just gone, as her mothers day prezzy. I got a baby grow that said inside of a red heart, happy mothers day nanny, and wrapped it up. I put it at the bottom of the gift bag so it would be the last one she opened. She had no idea so was very very surprised and we all cried a lot! Smile

My sister had just had a baby so I got a baby vest made for her baby that said 'I'm going to be a big cousin' with a photo of the baby scan printed onto it, I filmed their reaction and it was priceless!!

We bought a nursery rhyme book and wrapped it up for them to open. Inside we had put a note saying 'To Grandma and Grandpa, cannot wait for you to read this to me. Love ?? Xx'

Do your research first re: who you’re revealing too is the advice I’d give. My sibling did 2 public reveals in front of me during my IVF treatments; while I was happy for them, I definitely had to perform to get past that initial gutwrenching disappointment.

Beclaboo · 04/04/2019 12:10

Ahh what lovely ideas!! I definitely want to film their reactions! Should be a total surprise as we have not mentioned anything to the effect of TTC

@teddybear45 yes of course! How difficult that must have been for you Sad We would only reveal to our parents for this reason, I don’t think I’d even post on social media as I’m not an avid user anyway.
