Tell me I'm not the only one unable to hide their bump so early on!

I'm 6+3 weeks in and I'm getting to the point where if I don't tell people, they'll start asking. I'm a size 12, but very tall, so I'm always mistaken for a size 10. I've started packing my jeans and fitted tops away because nothing fits. Yet, all I see on here is ladies saying how they managed to hide their bump until they were 20 weeks!
This is my second pregnancy, and it was the same first time round.

Am I the only one showing so early?!

Oh god, I'm actually the only one!

Aww Op don't fret. I was a student nurse on my midwifery placement in Sheffield and I was out with the community midwife one day. We went to do a first visit to a lady who was about 6 weeks and she had a noticeable bump and was her first baby. She was probably a size 10/12 and average height. Afterwards I asked the midwife if it was normal to show so early and she said that with some women as soon as they know they are pregnant the stomach muscles relax and they get a little bump.

Years later, with dc3, I was really bloated around 8/9 weeks and felt huge. I wasn't but I felt it.

You'll be more aware than anyone, don't worry.

If you don't want anyone to know yet, just say you have IBS and ate falafel Grin

Congratulations Thanks

You are not alone! I showed very early on especially on DC2.

CatSmize · 03/04/2019 00:16

You're not alone! This is my first and I haven't been able to do up any of my trousers since week 5! I'm normally a size 6.

I'm now 15w and was hoping to not tell anyone at work until I couldn't hide it anymore but someone told me yesterday that people were gossiping I could be PG as much as a month ago because of the bump I thought I was hiding so well!

I'm glad I'm not the only one, OP, as I've also read those threads where people don't even look PG at 25 weeks and I wonder why I've looked it practically since conception! Grin

We started telling close friends who we were seeing around 6ish weeks. I'm a size 6 with a flat stomach. My bloating was the exact shape of a baby bump and there was literally no way I could just pretend it was something else. I'd also been really sick early on so it was good for them to know anyway why I may not seem myself.

ChipsAreLife · 03/04/2019 06:44

Both times I had really bad bloating till about ten weeks then it eased and I didn't really get a bump till 18/19 weeks. Every body is different, if you want to cover it up use baggy clothes and scarves?

Newyearsameoldshit · 03/04/2019 09:01

I'm in the same boat! Second baby and looked pregnant very quickly this time around!

llangennith · 03/04/2019 09:19

I was a size 10 before each of my three pregnancies and had to go into bigger clothes at eight weeks with all of them.
I used to get really pissed off hearing women say "oh I could still fit into my jeans at 6 months"😬
I was back to my size 10 by the time each baby was eight weeks old without any diet or an exercise regime. Genes I suppose.

Lost5stone · 03/04/2019 09:25

Same here OP. 7 weeks, second baby. 5ft8 and size 10/12. I don't know what to wear to work. My dresses are too tight around he tummy. My trousers are so uncomfortable. I've put my size 10 jeans to the back of the wardrobe cause that isn't happening anymore. I was in maternity jeans by 14 weeks with my first too!

Luckily my appetite is huge at the moment so I've just made lots of jokes about how I'm putting on the weight and need to stop eating so many cookies

ScotsBaby2 · 03/04/2019 09:59

I was showing very early this pregnancy but now all the bloat has gone and in certain outfits I don't look pregnant at 20 weeks.

The bloat will reduce and you won't be as bumpy around 10/12 weeks.

CatSmize · 03/04/2019 10:07

if you want to cover it up use baggy clothes and scarves?

I think this is exactly why my clients guessed. I usually wear fairly slim-fit dresses and suddenly I'm never out of flowy tops!

Just like you, lost5stone, I really struggle with what to wear every day as my dresses show off the bump and my trousers don't fit. I've just bought some black maternity trousers so instead of stretchy black skirt and flowy tops, it'll be trousers and flowy tops. I miss dresses! In a few months when everyone knows I'll start rocking the maternity dresses, I suppose. That said, they are much more expensive than I imagined so I doubt I'll be any kind of sartorial reference over the next few months!

CatSmize · 03/04/2019 10:09

The bloat will reduce and you won't be as bumpy around 10/12 weeks.

I think that depends on the person. I've got progressively bigger since week 5 and I'm now 15w with a very visible bump. Mine never went away!

spaniorita · 03/04/2019 10:20

This is my last bump at 13 and 17 weeks. I wasn't able to hide it for long.

spaniorita · 03/04/2019 10:21

Oh great pic attach fall. I'm not scrolling through all that lot again but safe to say I was showing very early on and my "bloat" did not go down.

whohaa · 03/04/2019 21:05

I'm in size 'large' leggings and baggy tops now. I don't want to get the maternity trousers out yet.

To be fair, in the morning I don't look pregnant, it's usually around lunchtime that I look full on 20 weeks pregnant. Perhaps it is bloating then . But is there anything that prevents the bloating?

Glad I'm not the only one!

I’m pregnant with DC2 and I’m huge. I’m a couple of sizes bigger than the first time, was a size 10 with DD but have shown quicker.
Maternity wear by 12 weeks or so.... 21 weeks and someone asked if I had long to go last week. Grin

Pfb12345 · 03/04/2019 21:20

Yup pregnant with DC2 13 weeks now and haven't been in my normal jeans since about week 8 or 9. Didn't wear maternity clothes till about 20 weeks with my first but there's just no way this time! Feel huge and almost a bit embarrassed that I look so big so early on.. feels like I shouldn't be this big yet. Especially as really only just starting to tell people. Really hoping it plateaus out a bit or I'm worried for the coming months!

ppwonar · 03/04/2019 21:35

I'm 13.5 weeks and look the same as I did about 20 first time round. I probably looked properly pregnant about 2 weeks ago and a friend at work who does know told me another colleague asked the other day if I was as "my bump looked high". I dread to think how big I'm going to get!!
