Hi there. We had the harmony test at 12 weeks, mainly due to being over 35-it is supposed to be more accurate than the NHS tests, and I was paranoid I would come back high risk.

It was a simple blood test (and a dating scan if you haven't already had one)and we got the results back really quickly.

All very low risk thank goodness. Still so glad we did it just for the added reassurance.

And they gave us the option of finding out the sex which we did-felt strange but amazing knowing what we were having so early. Definitely worth it.x

Hermones1 · 31/03/2019 18:51

Yes I had one.
Results took a week to come back.
Sex was correct and everything else came back fine.

Good Luck! X

I had one at 10+2, and the result came back as inconclusive because there wasn’t enough fetal DNA in my blood for them to get a result.

I had to wait a month to repeat it, and then the result came back in 5 days

I think the failure rate for tests done at 10 weeks is about 10% so you might be better hanging on another week or so to avoid the risk of them not collecting enough fetal DNA

This was a couple of years ago though so the testing machine might be more sensitive now

Aww lovely @waffle12 so glad all went well for you...how far were you all when you had your tests...@Hermones how far were you at your test...Yes @tenbob it says from 10 weeks you can have it...so i paid and booked...but going online ive seen about inconclusives (non relating too how far gone though) kind of worried now...want it to be worth it...Can i ask if you are over weight at all...as ive heard that can affect it...X

It might be a good idea to wait another week or so like tenbob suggested. We deliberately waited till 12 weeks. On the report it said that about 15% was fetal dna-not sure if the % would likely be lower at 10weeks?

Also have u had a scan already to confirm you will be over 10 weeks? If u are going by lmp then there is a chance you could be a tiny bit behind where you think u are meaning you may not be quite 10 weeks on the date of the harmony test?

We have 20 week scan next week so can let u know if the gender was correct-I am hoping so as it says its 99% accurate and we have already told a few people what we are having lol.x

Also regarding being overweight- personally I am top end of normal BMI, but as this is just a blood test I wouldn't have thought weight would affect it but to be honest I didn't research that. Maybe it could affect them getting a clear picture on the scan?

My3boys9910 · 31/03/2019 20:03

Thanks @waffle...I have read theres little or no rise in fetal blood percentage between 10 & 22 weeks...which is why they offer from 10 weeks...ive read lots of positive stories on accurate results from 10+1 10+2 ect...so im thinking just go for it...they offer a retake if it doesnt work aswell?...So feeling nothing to loose...I had an early scan a few weeks ago...and was 6 weeks heartbeating and all in the right place...so going on that scan i will be 10+1 by my harmony booking...could be further or under im aware...Im just very impatient & suffering horrendously with sickness...so just looking for something to focus on and enjoy pregnancy wise...possibly reduce any worrys...and find out the sex (Im keeping it hidden from family and freinds until we know the sex as people always pressure me about wanting a girl as i have 3 boys & it annoys me.) But im struggling to hide away this ill without people noticing...so i just really want to find out asap...and chill...X

And yeah im top end of normal aswell...9st 10 & 5ft 2...but i read a vlog on youtube and the lady said she was obese and this affected her nipt test results...and they were inconclusive...Thats why i asked.X

Also...You can have early sex scans at 16 weeks...And they are £80...I dont want to wait a few weeks as ive paid £450...I could just wait the other 4 weeks if i hild of for a couple more...what with the wait on the results aswell (Didnt think of this before i booked as it just said your good to go at 10 weeks...and 3% of ALL blood tests come back as inconclusive due to lack of fetal dna) It didnt say earlier gestation is higher risk of less dna...so i just went with it thinking 3% is low & they will re test if that did happen...x

I’ve had the harmony at 10 weeks, got my results two weeks later. Glad I did it and was nice having an extra scan.

tenbob · 31/03/2019 20:27

No, normal weight... but I had also read being overweight affects the likelihood of having an inconclusive test result

My3boys9910 · 31/03/2019 20:52

Awww @SRK16 how lovely...amazing how early all this stuff can be done now isnt it...makes it more exciting much sooner...Ive been told results are done in 3-5 days...was yours recent...did you opt to find out the sex

Had harmony and panorama (different pregnancies). Panorama is a bit more accurate I recall.
Yes I was told by the consultant who did mine that weight affected it, but still the odds are good that there will be a result. And if not you just re-do.

PBobs · 31/03/2019 22:53

I had Panorama at around 12 weeks.

My3boys9910 · 17/04/2019 12:41

Just an update...my test was successful at 10+1 all tests low probability & I'm having a baby girl :)
