Oh no you're fine! People used to store apples in a cool dark place for months!

mrbob · 31/03/2019 03:51

If it tasted fine it is fine

Boredgiraffes · 31/03/2019 03:53

Yep remember Snow White all will be good....

Myyearmytime · 31/03/2019 04:32

Uk apples were picked in autumn.
There all apples are old.
You taste when a apple is .
It tasted aright. You will be fine .

BlackCatSleeping · 31/03/2019 04:36

You're bonkers.

In farming communities they harvest apples in autumn and eat them all winter.

Good luck with the birth!

Knitclubchatter · 31/03/2019 04:48

Here too, the apples were picked in September still eating them. Same with carrots and beets and all other root veggies. Dare not think how old the potatoes are...

Fridasrage · 31/03/2019 05:00

All fine!

Heyha · 31/03/2019 08:57

You'd know if an apple was off by the appearance, taste, texture. As others have said they only fruit in Autumn (although across a few months depending on the variety) so all apples have been stored for ages unless you're eating them for Christmas dinner 😂

Cookit · 31/03/2019 09:00

What, a week?!
We buy apples every week because my toddler likes them. They get mixed up in the fruit bowl and I’m sure some have been there for a month (more?) and others are new. Never thought it mattered.

PrinceOfPies · 31/03/2019 09:01

Aw OP! You're fine!. Apples can be eaten until they can't! They put the dates on for the store to know when to sell them and to give you an idea on freshness thats all.

There's a push to lose the dates on produce entirely at the moment.

If you'd eaten month old chicken I'd tell you to get yourself to A&e!

PetuliaBlavatsky · 31/03/2019 09:02

Apples last for months. Where did you read they have to be eaten within a week? That's completely crazy.
Apple trees fruit between September and November ish, they can then be stored over winter and remain perfectly fine to eat.

Dramatical · 31/03/2019 09:15

Why did you google this after eating half an apple that taste fine?

BlackCatSleeping · 31/03/2019 12:13

Maybe the OP googled apple pie by mistake.

ColintheCrow · 31/03/2019 13:15

Or apples of the sea aka prawns?

CobaltRose96 · 31/03/2019 13:51

Like others have said, apples are picked in Autumn, so technically all apples you eat are a few weeks old. If it tasted fine, it's fine! Rotten fruit is pretty distinctive.
