Currently reading a thread on another board and a lot of the replies are mentioning carrying maternity notes. I’ve only had my booking appointment so far and was not given any notes, I was given the link and my login details to a website where all the info taken at the appointment was listed.

Does this mean my notes are held online or should I check at my next appointment if I actually get a hard copy of these?

Sounds like yours are just online, I was given my notes (and a load of Bounty crap 😡) at booking in – it seems to vary from trust to trust. They should have explained it, really! I would double-check at your next appointment, but not worry too much about it since all the info is online.

I got a massive folder with loads of leaflets, magazines etc. Will confirm at my next appointment that it’s all online. Just reading that other post and almost everyone mentioning the notes made me think!

Odd.... I had an orange book that they called my "notes" and I was told to carry it with me at all times in case of an emergency like I collapse or something, they could find them and medical staff would know the details of pregnancy immediately and be able to act accordingly.

Also got the bounty pack by the way. PS they often have free tubes of nappy cream and wipes and stuff in - and places give them away quite freely so always say yes! I got two from blood tests, one from a scan and you can download the app and get one from a Tesco/boots too :D

OP my trust is in the process of moving online, so I have both Hmm
Sounds like yours are all online already, so I wouldn't worry.
I actually found the paper notes much easier to use- the online ones don't seem to get updated as easily, and it's much harder to find any info in them. But hopefully yours are better!!

Mines was all online! Login portal etc and the only book I got was for baby after she was born. Congrats OP!

Online sounds much better. I started carrying my notes with me to and from work from about 20-odd weeks both times and it’s a faff because they don’t fit in my bag.

I was told by the MW that she put all the details from the booking appt into my maternity notes and I'd be given them at my next MW appointment - at 16 weeks maybe? Main reason to have notes that you carry is that if you go into labour or have problems out of area the hospital has all your info from your notes.

With my first baby I was given notes at the booking in appointment. This time we are with a different trust and i only got my notes at the hospital at the 12 week scan.

Think everywhere is different-you may just have on-line notes but I would double check at your next appointment.

I was given my notes booklet by the doctor to fill out before my booking in appt. Then they were taken by the midwife and I got them back at my 12 week scan.

It varies depending on what trust you're with like lots of things do in early pregnancy, but you should have them back by 12-16 weeks I think as they've got a load of info in them about movements (or at least mine do) and how to contact your midwife.

This really confused me on here too when everyone kept mentioning carrying notes!

All of mine were held online, the only thing I occasionally needed was previous growth scan sheets but even then I’m fairly sure they were online too. Our trust is currently in the midst of getting rid of the Red Books though which I feel (unreasonably) is a bit sad.
