Am I just being grumpy or does anyone else ever wish that their bump/baby would sit still?

I am 25 weeks with number 2 and my baby is constantly doing somersaults. It never stays still. Whatever time I wake during the night it is on the go and it feels like it has been on the move all day! I am worried that this baby will never sleep and tonight it jumped up and down so much and so hard I thought I was about to go into labour! It totally dropped just like my dd did a few weeks before she was born. It soon climbed back up again! I must be harbouring a gremlin! How often do you feel your babies move? Do you ever feel the same?

Ds2 was like that. He's almost 17 months now and still hasn't stopped moving! You'd better get used to it !

Oh good lord yes. I'm 28 weeks and mine always seems to be leaping around. The other morning though she seemed to be very still for a few hours and I started to worry, but then....wallop - enormous kick that actually made me jump! The weirdest is when it feels like she's kicking me in the ribs and bottom at the same time though...I think she's an acrobat or something.

LOL - when I was pg I felt the same as you, Estobi1.
I felt like I was meant to love it when they moved but it was so constant with ds that it just became bloody irritating!

Thank you!!!! I feel like I am evil to even think like that! It is lovely for some of the time but when it is hard and constant or seems to be pulling something, you think please stop, just for a little while. What worries me is that my dd is so active - I really don't need one even more active! My poor husband can't understand why I don't want to be intimate. I try to explain that I have one kicking me inside and my dd jumping all over me most of the day so I don't want to be touched! He is very supportive luckily!

The middle-trimester somersaulting I could live with, but at 34 weeks I'm getting fairly fed up of being kicked in the lung / kneed in the spleen / head-butted in the bladder, and my colleagues are fed up of me squeaking at ever surprise jolt...

22 weeks with no 2 as well & it never seems to stop, must admit I have thought it'd be nice to get a wee bit of respite but like that if it stops for any length of time I panic. I'm slightly worried tho' as DD wasn't as active but she has never stopped since she was born almost 6 years ago so God knows what this little one will be like. Sometimes I imagine it's like a little hamster on a wheel, it's as if it whirls round just below my belly button for hours.
Most of the time I do love it tho' & feels like a little companion if I have a rare moment alone.

I absolutely hated it!!! Could feel ds2 from about 16 weeks and he didn't stop moving day and night until he was born. Used to make me feel soooo ill. Couldn't stand it and was the happiest person in the world when he finally came out.

I'm 38+5 and get this too. All the time! I don't mind but sometimes now its really painful and uncomfy cos its soooo big! Never mind- hopefully not long to go now!

Yes I must admit I am not looking forward to the baby's feet being able to get my ribs and I sympathise with those of you who are being kicked far harder and in more unpleasant ways than me! At least they are on their way to the other side!

I hardly feel any movements with this LO, and if i do it's not kicking, but bubbles like you feel in early pg. I've only ever felt two kicks and that was at about 16 weeks.

Yes my ds was the same. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle all day, all night. He is the same now he is 18mths old but he does sleep. Probably worn out with all the wiggling.

Mine doesn't stop moving either. I love to feel him/her move during the day but am slightly less impressed when it's a 4:30am well aimed kick/punch to my bladder.. We actually nicknamed ours "Kicky" due to the constant activity. Still, would rather feel it than not...

I've got a future premiership footballer in here I think! He doesn't stop kicking me, I'm quite tall, and he's sitting quite low, so I get some really big kicks in my cervix and what I assume are my ovaries! I also think he likes to stretch himself out a bit, as this morning I could swear I could feel his head sticking out to one side under my ribs and his feet the other side!! Mind you, whenever I get fed up, I do think back to that panicky time in my first trimester when I could feel nothing and I always used to think "if I only I knew everything was still ok in there". Now there's no doubting it!

Sounds like we could start a premiership team between us!!

Yep - and count mine in too! I'm 26+5 with number 1.

The wierd thing is that 99% of the movement is on my right. I thought they were still able to move around loads at this point, so why only ever on the right?

The most kicks seem to come at about 10.30pm, and the other night, dh was away and I lay there, chatting away to my bump and, would you believe, playing tag?! S/he kicked, I poked my tummy and got a kick back!!! Probably coincidental, but I like to think s/he was playing with me!

However, sometimes I can go all day or more without getting kicked, so I think mine is actually quite lazy!

Yes, I felt the same with my pregnancy - DD is now 6 months, but she was never still at all. Some nights she would kick so hard that I would cry out and wake DH
Unfortunately, she was so wriggly that she never settled into either an engaged or breech position when it was time to be born, and lay stubbornly across my tummy, so that she has to be born by planned C-section 3 days before her due date.
However, the good news is that she is a great sleeper and has been since 3 months - wears herself out with all that wriggling about I reckon !

Thank goodness other Mumsnetters' feel the same. I'm currently 34+1 with my son and he's always kicking me, esp in bed when I turn on my left side, he tends to 'scrabble' around a bit. I also hate the sudden kicks to the bladder...

It's reassuring to find out he's healthy, but honestly, sometimes I wish he'd give me some peace

Mine won't sit still either - am 32+1 and he's head down and my ribs are getting kicked badly. He seems to spend most afternoons and evenings with his heel lodged firmly in my ribs. I thought he's have run out space by now and would therefore be still - no way.

He used to be really active at night but now, strangely, seems to be sleeping roughly when I am - a trend that I hope continues after birth!

And yes it does make me grumpy sometimes.

wheresmywaistgone I am sure your baby was playing with you - I read on a website (boots i think) that from about 24 weeks twins pat each other and play tag inside the womb so I am sure your baby was playing - nice thought eh! Still for most of the mners on this thread it sounds like we are all lucky not to be carrying twins with all of th scrabbling and kicking going on!

It's nice to know I'm not alone. I'm 30+5 and also feel like I must be an evil cow or something for wishing for some respite from it all. It is incessant. He never seems to go to sleep and I'm so worried he'll be as active when he come out.
