Bleeding 14 weeks pregnant

Evening all
I just got in from work and went to the loo for a wee and when I wiped I had blood. Not bright red but pink and watered down almost (sorry tmi) I haven't had this before and this is my second pregnancy.
I have had a really busy day and may have done too much physically and now worried I have hurt the baby.
I called the midwife who said I need to have a bath as I have back ache and monitor the bleeding and if it gets worse then go to a and e as it will be a miscarriage.
Has anyone else had this kind of bleeding before this early?

Hi OP, nor exactly the same situation, but I did come home after a busy day at 18 weeks to find a bright red bleed. I panicked and ended up in A&E and maternity ward for monitoring. Turned out to be bleeding from a low lying placenta and everything else was fine. I spotted on and off for 2 weeks or so but then the placenta moved up away from the cervix and everything has been fine since (now 28 weeks) 😊

I hope everything works out a week for you - I know how worrying it is xxx

Sorry, that should have said I hope everything works out as well for you!

I also had this with this pregnancy ( now 32 weeks) after painting a kitchen one afternoon and then going for an extended walk. It was put down to over extertion and all was okay. Wishing you well.

Hi OP I have had this twice so far in this pregnancy and a few times in my first. In my first they said its cervical erosion and this was what the bleeding was from.
In this pregnancy I’ve not actually spoken to the midwife about it as I’ve had extra scans due to having lletz two years ago and have seen baby since the bleeding a few times.
Most recent was at 14 weeks (16 now).
Thinking back I quite busy days as well when I have had bleeding.
Have you had anymore?

Thanks all. Will monitor it tonight. I'm generally not a worrier but it's just the blood has thrown me. Maybe I need to see this as my body telling me to stop doing so much! I had my scan at 12 weeks and all was fine then. I have a meeting at the hospital on Tuesday as didn't have a great first birth and ended up with forceps in theatre and they want to go over what happened etc so il mention it to them then and see what they say, but not seeing the actual midwife for another 2-3 weeks!

How you doing OP?

peamcgee · 31/03/2019 08:06

@Perty01234 woken up this morn still with some lower back pain on the right and a cracking headache. The discharge is still still there more brown than pink now. Not sure if that's good or bad. X

Hey just thought I’d let you know I had the same thing last week at 10 weeks. Started bright pink and worked its way to a brown discharge after about 24hrs. I was finding the toilet bowl was bright red each time; little bit of back ach and the following morning I wiped and there was a huge clot (poker chip size).

Called midwife back, attended the early pregnancy unit for a scan .... everything was absolutely fine and they couldn’t locate a source of bleeding neither (which is good ... but would have been nice to know).

So not all bleeding or clotting result in miscarriage, please keep us updated x

Sorry to hear re the back pain OP and headache for peace of mind can you ring the early pregnancy unit?

In my NHS trust you can self refer to it instead of going to A&E, as all they will do is refer you on to EPU for an appointment a few days later. (This was in my first pregnancy). I do recall them saying that brown blood was normally old blood.... and I do remember them saying that if you have had sex recently this can also disturb the cervix.

Their number should be on your maternity notes or google often comes up with something. If you go straight to ringing them they might be able to book you in for a scan today or tomorrow Xxx

How are you OP?

peamcgee · 01/04/2019 16:17

@Perty01234 sorry it's been another manic day. I work as a nanny so chasing after 3 children all day!
Bleeding has stopped and the headache has stopped so fingers crossed all. I have an app at the hospital tomorrow at 10am so will talk to them about it then and update you xxx
