Hello!

Really wanting some sound advice from those that have had home births and used birthing pools at home too? I'm on the cusp of making the final decision and need to let my midwife know next week to transfer me to the home birth team.
Had a water birth with my first in hospital but this time I'm scared I won't be so lucky and get a birthing pool if I go to hospital so covering all grounds just incase

Hi OP. I've not had a HB but am planning one. I'm 35 weeks. One of the reasons I chose one was the same as you - had a water birth with DS and knew I'd be so disappointed if one wasn't available for DC2 so this way I can be sure no one else is in my pool! Ordered a second hand one from eBay and collected it today, still to give it a trial run.

Is there anything that's putting you off committing to the decision?

I looked into homebirth but decided against it due to it being vbac. The thing with homebirth is you can plan for one and the chamge your mind at any point - well before crowning.

I had three water births, two of which were home births.. They were really wonderful.. So lovely to get straight into your own bed with your baby afterwards! If I could do it all over again, I would!!

Thanks all for your feedback!

@NannyPear I think I'm just worried about my OH being consumed by setting it all up in the moment & not being there for me or getting stressed which will stress me out.
I also worry this labour may be speedier than my first and he won't have time to get a pool filled. I'm literally overthinking everything!
I have moved to the HB team though but the assessment isn't until next week where I'll be 36 weeks Shock

I've had a HB with a "birth in a box" pool. It's was lovely and being able to go to bed with baba afterwards is the best thing in the world.

Just one thing, def have a trial run before hand setting it up. I'm aware most people with half a brain would do this. We didn't and the hose connecter didn't fit the tap to fill the pool so my DH has to hold it and burnt all his hand. I also run out of gas and air but probably was a bit giddy with it.

My first child was born at home with a water birth.

My second child I had my pool all set up but did not like it for that labour.

My suggestion would be to keep your options open. Wink
