Hello!

I’ve just been diagnosed with a viral infection which I need to take antibiotics for.. I’m just so worried they will impact on my unborn baby even though the doc said they were safe to take, I’m just a worrier, has anyone else had any similar experience? I just feel like I’m jinxing my pregnancy as I have no symptoms yet apart from sore boobs which aren’t sore today!
Many thanks

Viral infections are not helped by antibiotics. It’s either a bacterial infection or you have been prescribed antivirals for a viral infection.

They will not harm your baby, they wouldn't prescribe them otherwise.

Doctors are extremely cautious in prescribing to pregnant ladies. So long as the GP knew you were pregnant, and you either have antibiotics for a bacterial infection, or antiviral for a viral infection, please take them as the safest thing you you and baby.

Hope you are feeling better soon

I took a course of antibiotics at 15 weeks with no guilt - Baby needs a healthy mum and my particular infection could have caused problems with pregnancy
Trust your doctor - they know what they are doing. Every single prescription is tailored to you, including a risk /benefit analysis of your pregnancy and other conditions and is based on best evidence based practice. As long as your doctor knew before pregnancy - take them

Also confused why you are getting antibiotics for a viral infection... but yes if the doctor knew you were pregnant they would have checked. If you are ever unsure just double check with them
