Laughing hard then crying and upset

Hello everyone.

So we are currently visiting my MIL and she has lent us her bedroom as it's bigger and more comfortable. Now that I'm pregnant with twins, we really appreciate it. However I let the world's biggest fart rip and couldn't stop laughing, which turned into crying which then turned into sad crying (for no reason as I'm not bothered about people hearing me fart, I've farted plenty in the past)
This is the second time in this pregnancy that I've laughed so hard I've literally upset myself.
My DP says it's like I short-circuited. Now I know it's normal to cry when laughing hard but I've never ever gotten upset while doing so, until now that is.

Have any of you experienced anything similar? Is this normal?

I did with my first pregnancy. I would laugh hysterically and couldn't stop, then it would turn into tears. I assumed it was just the hormones. It didn't happen regularly but it was usually something silly that set it off (like your fart!).

I had this, would be laughing at a funny film and the laughter would inexplicably turn into heaving sobs. No idea why!

I do this occasionally (much to the bemusement of my family!) And I am not pregnant.

I couldn’t stop laughing once in first pregnancy i had to go home from work in a taxi still laughing. When dh got home I accused him of trying to get me out of the house and smashed a plate. We never argue normally. It’s like I went utterly mad for a day.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 30/03/2019 07:14

Yep, I do this reasonably frequently at the moment (27 weeks pregnant). It's like an overwhelming feeling and in fairness I'm incredibly hormonal in this pregnancy which is not helping. It does end at some point after baby arrives.

Congratulations OP Flowers and YES! Although for me it didn't really get into upset crying but I started getting into really intense laughing fits that would make tears stream down my face then I'd end up serious-faced going ehhh and looking into the middle distance. This would go on for minutes and minutes... I've always wondered about those laughing fits, good to hear others had them too! I became quite fond of them, enjoy Grin

@MsTSwift - you've nearly set me off into one such fits with your post!! 😂

MamaDane · 30/03/2019 07:33

Thanks you guys. Grin

I'm not quite sure I enjoy it when they turn though Grin

I did this a couple of times during my second pregnancy, it was bizarre but hilarious for my husband and son Grin My son would be like "Daaaaaaad, mums hormones have gone off again" which made me laugh even harder. And wee a little bit Blush
