Does my dog know I am pregnant?

He cuddles up to me and rests his chin or paw on my growing bump.

When I walk him alone, he barely leaves my side. When I walk him with DH or DM he will run a bit further, but constantly looks back, but when it’s just me & him he doesn’t leave me - like he doesn’t want me to be left unattended.

DH noticed yesterday on a walkies that if another dog or person approaches me, our doggie will stand in front of me, almost guarding.

He is only 1 and hasn’t been around any pregnant people before in his life.

Do you think he is aware? Or am I just reading in to things?

@Cosmogirl86 - mine is a Collie Cross too!! Maybe it's breed specific to not care about their owners being pregnant haha.

100%! My friends dog knew both times & acted completely different around me. Sniffing my stomach and generally being over attentive

My cat knew when I was pregnant and would rest his chin on my bump. I had IVF and whenever I got the stuff out to do my injections he'd come running and sit next to me while I did it, then snuggle up after. I think they can smell the hormones.

My DPIL's dog was super protective of me when I was pregnant. It was weird as he had never really bothered with me before

Yes he will know. My dog got very snuggly with me around 8 weeks. Then got anxious when I went up to bed at about 18 weeks. Back to his normal self with that a few weeks later. He has been very gentle with me the whole way through (he will jump on to DHs lap for cuddles but not me now) and will try to act as a bit of a splitter if a very boisterous dog tries to jump at me when we are out.

My cat gets flu when stressed and it happens a few times a year so I take her for a jab and then everything is fine. She’s a sensitive soul.

So I took her 3 weeks ago as she was suddenly sneezing again and among the questions asked the zet asked if I was pregnant (I had a roomy coat on) and when I said yes, she said my cat knew something was up as my usual smell (to the cat!) has changed due to hormone change. She has become very clingy, poor thing.
