Diaphragm contraception

Posting here for traffic,
Experiences?
I can't use anything with hormones, and I don't like the thought of the copper coil, nor do I like all the problems that could occur, and knowing my luck they all would!

So was looking into the only other method apart from abstinence!
Would appreciate good and bad experiences of using it 😊

Male or female condoms?

I used the diaphragm for a short time. I didnt find it very practical. Inserting x amount of time before sex. Plus spermaside. Then keeping it in for a set time after sex. It did the job though

I’m very similar to you. I had a copper coil for a year but it didn’t agree with me, I really gritted my teeth with it but it gave me a lot of pain, but I don’t think my experience is the norm.

I had a diaphram fitted a few years ago. I had to have a non latex one (something to be aware of if you have latex issues). For me the spermicide gel you have to use with it caused me great skin irritation and itching so I couldn’t use it, and without the spermicide it’s not much use. I was warned it wasn’t one of thr most effective methods of contraception so that’s also worth considering as to what you would do if it failed. We tried the male and female condom too and never got on that well with either and for me I was so anxious they wouldn’t work and I’d end out pg we had to go with the abstinence option until we decided to ttc again. After this one dh is getting the snip!

How did you find inserting it? I've heard some people have difficulty?
I read a fair amount into some studies on them and found that using spermicide only increases the effectiveness by a small amount for it not to be significant.
Not that this will be much if a problem, long gone are the days of spontaneous sex without two children needing something!

I was told it was almost useless without spermicide! It wasn’t bad to insert but I was always worried incase I hadn’t got it spot on despite being shown, but tbh I ended out never really using it much because of the spermicide issue
