Colostrum after a glass of wine

I'm 38 weeks and have been trying to hand express some colostrum to freeze in the syringes my midwife gave me. Haven't been that successful so far.

So tonight I decided to have a glass of wine with my dinner - Sod's law we've sat down to watch tv and it's like someone's switched on a tap 🤦🏻‍♀️ I've managed to collect a syringe worth, but am I going to have to throw this away because of the glass of wine? It kind of breaks my heart to do that.
WWYD?

You dont need to throw it away. The amount of alcohol in the colostrum would be negligent. Its something like a drop in a swimming pool.

Are you drinking often though? As that still isn't great in pregnancy...

Why are you expresssing colostrum pre-birth.

Why are you expresssing colostrum pre-birth.

Well, she said she was leaking anyway and it can be very handy to have a stash...?

She's also indicated that the glass of wine was a one-off.

OP, no you don't need to throw away the colostrum, it'll be fine.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 28/03/2019 21:52

Lots of people do it now for various reasons including to help if baby is sick. It just gives you a head start and is perfectly fine from 37 weeks.

Stormwhale · 28/03/2019 21:56

Dragon where does she say the wine is a one off?

RosiePosies · 28/03/2019 22:01

Oh do bore off @Stormwhale 🙄

Thank you @SoHotADragonRetired & @Thesnobbymiddleclassone 👍🏻

To be fair I thought I remembered a mention of how it was a v rare/unusual wine, but evidently I made that up. Still, if OP is concerned about colostrum after one glass of wine I doubt she's swilling a bottle a night, and yes you can totally have one glass of wine at 38 weeks pregnant without having to apologise for it, or caveat about how you never do it etc.

I read it as an occasional drink too, I’m assuming it’s the So tonight I decided to have a glass of wine with my dinner - Sod's law we've sat down to watch tv and it's like someone's switched on a tap

It doesn’t scream drinking very often to me, I’m 37 weeks and I’ve had the occasional drink too.

OP I wouldn’t worry about it Smile I’ve tried hand expressing lately too and nothing for me!

Well that was very rude. Especially when I answered your question.
