I’m 24 weeks, first pregnancy, and I’ve had the normal problems of feeling like I need the loo a lot, even after I’ve just been, but usually the feeling goes away after a few minutes of ignoring it. I went to the loo a few hours ago and since then I’ve been feeling constantly desperate to urinate!! I’m sitting on the loo, unable to work (I work from home) or leave the flat because I have these alarm bells going off screaming “YOU’RE ABOUT TO WET YOURSELF!” Every time I get off the toilet.

It just crossed my mind that it could be a UTI but I have no pain or other symptoms. I’m in a different country right now so I can’t speak to my doctor or midwife til Monday.

Is this normal? Could baby be hugging my bladder?

Any help appreciated!

It could very well be, I had a UTI a few months ago and had 0 symptoms apart from needing to pee a lot and feeling uncomfortable. Defo check on with a doctor asap! Otherwise it could turn into a nasty UTI! Hope all goes well! X

You need to see a dr before Monday.

That's not a normal feeling.. I'm 28 weeks and pee frequently and get the odd kick to the bladder but feeling unable to leave the loo isn't right..

You don't always get pain with a UTI, I had similar in my first pregnancy. I was just getting a heavy feeling as if my bladder was full constantly but nothing was coming out. You do need to see someone sooner rather than later

Urgency to wee... that sounds more like uti. I had a uti before and there wasnt really pain just an endless desire to wee even when no more could come out. The wee was also cloudy. See your doctor about it!

I have this. I have had multiple tests for UTIs and cultures. I don't have a UTI. I have a baby who prevents me from emptying my bladder so I never have a satisfying pee. I always have 7-8ml of urine left in there that I just can't get out. Doctor said it's fine but to expect to always have that feeling that you haven't got all your pee out. That said, I'd see the doctor as you don't know 100% till you have the tests.

Sounds like the start of a UTI.
I've had loads of these thanks to an extremely short urethra.
In my experience, if you catch it early enough and treat at home you can flush it out before it progresses.
My at home treatment consists of drinking a large amount of water throughout the day (a glass every hour at least).
You'll need to pee a lot, but at least you'll have something coming out!

Thanks for the opinions guys. Things have improved slightly, i think I’m going to have to wait til Monday but until then I’ll drink a ton of water and cranberry.

You can’t wait until Monday. UTI are very serious in pregnancy and cause premature labour. Is that something you are willing to risk?
