Hi lovely ladies, I am very new to this site and just wanted some advice please.

My partner and I have been TTC for a couple of months and I am now 4 days late for my period which is unusual....
I took a digital test this morning which said pregnant, and I just took another now that wasn't digital which said negative?!?

Is it because I'm still in the early stages that it needs my strongest wee to read positive or was it a faulty digital test and I'm actually just going crazy?!? X

@Millsss its very unlikely you would get a faulty digital test, how long did you hold your wee before you re tested and what brand was the test x

Millsss · 28/03/2019 14:34

Hey thanks for replying, the first one I did was my first wee of the day and the second was probably my 3rd or 4th wee. If I am pregnant I would only be 4 weeks 3 days so could it just be that I'm really early? X

The second test was just a cheap Sainsbury's branded one x

Pretty sure a false positive is a lot more unlikely than a false negative. Test again tomorrow with your first morning wee x

I got a false negative with a non-digital test, then two subsequent positives with digital tests. That was around 4 or 5 days after my period was due.

Re-test in the morning, but I'd recommend digital again - at least it's spelled out for you rather than making you squint at lines, especially at this early stage.

Thanks for your advice ladies! I only have another non digital that i can do tomorrow morning but will be interesting to see what it says with my first morning wee!
I do think in general though digital are a lot more reliable! Xx

@millsss hey! So I took done tests yesterday too, the first two I took were none digital and although they both had pink lines they were both very light, so I was really unsure, several people said they were defo positive but I needed to reassure myself so took another test, it was a digital one this time, and it came up as positive! So I'd defo suggest doing another one (possibly a digital one even tho I know they are super expensive!) Just to confirm!
Like you I'm 4 weeks and 3 days! So will be due at the same time! Christmas babys!! Ekk! I'm so so so excited! Congratulations! Xx

Hey Hun! Yeah my non digital had the most faint line I had to squint to see it so I just convinced myself it wasn't there! Will deffo do another one in the morning!
I think we're both so early our hcg levels are quite low but none the less so exciting congrats to you too!!!! Amazing that we are due the same time, would be amazing to say in contact to see how eachother is getting on!!!! :) Xx

What you need to check is how sensitive the tests are (will be written as 10mIU/ml or whatever on the packaging). First Response Early Results are very sensitive (but the FR Quick Results needs very high levels of hCG at 100mIU/ml) ClearBlue can be from 25mIU/ml but the digital ones are 50mIU/ml.

Until your period is actually late it’s best to use just your first morning urine and not later in the day unless you’ve had at least 4 hours with no drink intake or urine output to allow the levels to build up.

Good luck xx

Thanks for your reply Hun!
I tried testing again this morning but didn't wee on it enough (I usually dip it in a container) but didn't have time!
So will buy a couple more just for confirmation!
Will deffo go for the first response, I've heard slot of good reviews on those ones!!
Will keep you posted ladies!
Xx
