Can anyone recommend a tens machine they have used? There are so many out there. Determined for this labour to be better than my last so trying everything I can think of. Thanks

I used Babycare Elle Tens - got me to 7cm on the induction drip before I needed any other pain relief so worked for me

I used one in the hospital not sure the name of it. But that and hypnobirthing got me to the pushing stage then used gas and air

I Used a Tens machine, my Friend loaned me it. If found it a great help, it was after the midwife broke my waters I found it hard. My daughter then moved back to back so it was very painful but up to that point i had full control of my contractions. xx

I also used the Baby care Elle one that has a boost button. I got it at a mum2mum market for £3 although not sure if I would have got it at full price. In retrospect it was useful as I used it at home before we went to the hospital then got there and they said I was 7cm dialated. I then just had gas and air for the pushing part and he was here within 3 hours of arriving with the TENS machine on level 3 of 8 as I was saving the highest stages for when it got really tough. Would definitely use it again although really don't know how much the TENS machine or hypnobirthing had to do with the labour or if it was just luck.

Tip: if you do get one then work out how it works before you go into labour. Mine said don't use it until you're past 37 weeks so we hadn't got it out of the bag when I started having contractions at 36+6 so ended up reading the instructions between the contractions, as I'd been labouring in the bath/shower before we tried the TENS.

I hired a Elle one from Birth Ease. Really recommend them!

Another thumbs up for the Elle tens - absolutely loved it. Just that and a little gas and air right at the end got me to 10cm.

Definitely put it on early as soon as things start. Good luck!

I hired the Mama Tens from Boots and found it really helpful.

Another vote for the Elle tens. I hired one from the hospital. I put it on as soon as my contractions started. When I got to hospital four hours later I was already 10cm dilated and baby arrived within an hour. Already planning to hire one again in six months time for baby #2.

I also used the Elle tens machine and recommend it. I used it at home and on the way to the hospital. My contractions ramped up pretty quickly and was getting them every couple of minutes. Only reason I didn’t use it at the hospital is because i had a water birth. DD was born within 2 hours of getting to hospital.

I absolutely recommend the Babycare Elle TENS machine. TENS – Elle TENS Maternity TENS For Pain Relief During Labour - Award winning TENS machine for labour [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000A1QKGM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9Q-MCbF691NAY?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 Amazon link]]

For me in my first labour it was worth its weight in gold - I had a happy healthy home birth, used the TENS for over 24 hours. You can choose the strength setting and I could only bear about 5/10 as the higher settings hurt me more than my contractions.
It got me fully dilated and MW gave me g&a just before the birth.

It has also has been really helpful for back pain since!

Good luck.
